Subject: Lyr Add: WALKING ON THE MOON (Sting) From: lady penelope Date: 01 Jan 06 - 11:36 AM If you mean the song by Police these are they........ Giant steps are what you take Walking on the moon I hope my legs don't break Walking on the moon We could walk forever Walking on the moon We could live together Walking on, walking on the moon Walking back from your house Walking on the moon Walking back from your house Walking on the moon Feet they hardly touch the ground Walking on the moon My feet don't hardly make no sound Walking on, walking on the moon Some may say I'm wishing my days away No way And if it's the price I pay Some say Tomorrow's another day You stay I may as well play Giant steps are what you take Walking on the moon I hope my legs don't break Walking on the moon We could walk forever Walking on the moon We could be together Walking on, walking on the moon Some may say I'm wishing my days away No way And if it's the price I pay Some say Tomorrow's another day You stay I may as well play Keep it up, keep it up |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Clinton Hammond Date: 01 Jan 06 - 11:40 AM Isn't this a folk music site? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Nigel Parsons Date: 01 Jan 06 - 12:30 PM I went for a job interview, and when they asked if I had a police record I said "Yes..." "Walking on the Moon" CHEERS Nigel |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: The Borchester Echo Date: 01 Jan 06 - 12:54 PM Isn't this a folk music site? So what IS dreaded 'f-word' music? (cue not so distant clatter of hooves + Mr Armstrong). If you ask ME (OK, no-one did), the works of Mr Sumner have a lot more do do with 'folk music' than a lot of the tripe that pitches up on here purporting to be it, but isn't. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: alanabit Date: 01 Jan 06 - 12:56 PM "We work the black seam together", could well be mistaken for a traditional song if sung in a folk club. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Clinton Hammond Date: 01 Jan 06 - 01:04 PM "We Work The Black Seam" isn't "The Police"... It's on "Dream Of The Blue Turtles" isn't it? After Andy and Stewart wised up and shook him off.... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: alanabit Date: 01 Jan 06 - 01:16 PM You are right, of course Clinton. I think the Police were a stunningly original pop group and they were probably the right thing for all the musicians to be doing at the time. I guess we all get older and move on to things which are better suited to our current age. I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with wanting to sing songs about lusting for young women when you are in your twenties. I just reckon it would sound a little bizarre if you were still doing it into your middle age. In some respects, Sting is a little less fortunate than you or I. I would not like it if someone were to unearth one of my seventies or eighties recordings and to play it on the radio now! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Clinton Hammond Date: 01 Jan 06 - 01:29 PM I think "The Police" are possibly the best ever 3 piece band... But they sure as hell weren't 'folk' |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: alanabit Date: 01 Jan 06 - 01:49 PM Point taken. We will just have to see which songs still get sung in a few years time. I like to think some of them will make it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: GUEST Date: 01 Jan 06 - 02:58 PM Every Breath You Take will be sung for many years. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Midchuck Date: 01 Jan 06 - 03:25 PM Or are you asking for the Katy Moffat/Tom Russell one? Peter. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Stewie Date: 01 Jan 06 - 08:50 PM It is perhaps worth mentioning that it was the title track of Katy Moffatt's 'Walking on the moon' Philo CD PH 1128 a decade (1989) before her recording with Russell on 'The Long Way Around' (1999). --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: walkin on the moon From: Stewie Date: 01 Jan 06 - 08:52 PM My apologies, not quite a decade - 'The Long Way Around' was issued 1997, not 1999 as I indicated above. --Stewie. |
