Hi,

Anyone know the best way to get to Lorient (in France) from Cardiff, for the Celtic festival in August without using a car ?

I'm hoping someone on the forum has done this before ....

You are in for a woderful adventur and the connections are easy, when you know your schedule you can book up to three months in advance and on occasion some great discounts pop up.

ONE WAY -
CARDIFF CENTRAL to WATERLOO London - 2:40 minutes fare super saver 40 GPB

http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk

ONE WAY
WATERLOO London to Lorient France 5:30 minutes cost 160 GPB
http://www.eurostar.com

(I would "chunnel" ANYDAY rather than fight the airport mess.)

Sincerly,
Gargoyle

Hi Gargoyle,

Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like some long train journeys - I think I'll need to takes some good books to read.

Got any recommendations for accommodation while I am there ? Also, got any recommendations on how to approach the event in terms of what to do, where to go ?

Talk to Antony Owen Hicks at the Arts Council for Wales. He's part of Carreg Llafar and attended last year. He will probably know if the Welsh contingent goes en masse; may be a possibility of travelling with whoever is booked for 2006. Similarly, Geoff Cripps at Rhondda Cynon Taf (based in The Coliseum, Aberdare, I think) who went out with his group, Allan yn y Fan.
