Subject: Lyr Req: Plenty of lakes in Fermanagh PARODY?
From: GUEST,toenails john

Am looking for the words of this song, a parody i believe, about a man who is led a dogs life by his partner "Anna" and when he decides to sort out the problem it comes to light...."There are plenty of lakes in Fermanagh" ... into which she could quite easily go.

Anyone?

Is it a parody of "Anna From Fermanagh". The song that Declan Nerney does?

Brakn seems to be on the right track.

Declan Nerney sings ANNA FROM FERMANAGH on his album "Going Round & Round." He wrote it with his frequent collaborator, Henry McMahon. Here's an excerpt transcribed from the sound file at Declan Nerney's web site:

When he heard she'd got wed, the matchmaker said:
"Sure there's lots of fine girls in Fermanagh."
Owney loves Anna from the county Fermanagh,
And sure Anna loves Owney as well.
As they drove up and down, doin' laps round the town,
They were madly in love, you could tell.
On the day they got wed,....

The chorus carries on.....

On the day they got wed, Sure the preacher he said
Do you take to love and to honour,
I'd swim every lake, Owney said for her sake
There's plenty of lakes in Fermanagh

I think toenails is after a parody. I'd be interested myself.
