Does anybody have the words (and chords if possible) to this old song that was done so well by the Red Clay Ramblers?

Subject: Lyr Add: HIAWATHA'S LULLABY (Young, Donaldson)
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 12 Jan 06 - 09:41 AM

Transcribed from the sound file at The Red Hot Jazz Archive:

HIAWATHA'S LULLABY
Words, Joe Young. Music, Walter Donaldson. 1933.

Hiawatha's lullaby, there's the moon and I.
Like the waters, I am blue underneath the blue melancholy sky.

Hiawatha's lullaby, wake up all the lazy streams,
Wake up ev'ry flower bed, ev'ry sleepy head in your land of dreams.

The mellowy moonlight caressing the breeze,
Longfellowy moonlight, a book of memories.

Hiawatha's lullaby, there's the moon and here am I.
Like the waters, I am blue underneath the blue melancholy sky.

[As recorded by Joe Venuti, 1933.

[According to The Online Discographical Project, also recorded by:
Bob Causer & His Cornelians, 1933.
Tommy Tucker & His Orchestra, 1933.
Little Jack Little, 1933.
Hal Kemp & His Orchestra, 1933.

[allmusic also lists recordings by:
Layton & Johnstone
Ray Noble & His New Mayfair Orchestra,
The Red Clay Ramblers.

[Indiana University Sheet Music Collections indicates there is also a verse that begins:
"Sing waters of blue, songs that are old, you make them new."]

Please note that the Online Discographical Project's correct URL is http://www.78discography.com/ Corrections and updates occur monthly. The previous URL is still online, but it is not updated, so the information there is not the most current.
