Subject: Tune Req: Country Roads reggae version From: GUEST,fretless Date: 12 Jan 06 - 11:00 AM I'm looking for a reggae instrumental version of John Denver's Country Roads. I heard it in a bar a week or so ago but they had it on a muzak tape and didn't know the source. Can anyone help with the name of the recording? By the way, if, for some twisted reason, you're looking for a non-instrumental reggae version of John Denver's hit, it has been recorded by Toots Hibbert (Toots and the Maytals) on a number of recordings (Live at Red Rocks; Funky Kingston; etc.). |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Country Roads reggae version From: GUEST,TIA Date: 13 Jan 06 - 10:22 AM I believe this song has been reggae-covered by Toots and the Maytals, Burning Souls, and maybe The Melodians. Have you heard Willie Nelson's reggae covers on Countryman? Surpisingly (well, not really surprising) good. Best cover of Country Roads (IMHO) is Bruddah Iz's Hawaiian take on it. |
