Subject: Lyraics From: Cap't Bob Date: 23 Jan 99 - 01:09 AM I would like to know the lyrics to Ramblin Bob ~ I know two of the verses however I think there are three or possibly four. Any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU CAP'T BOB |
Subject: RE: Words to From: Don Meixner Date: 23 Jan 99 - 01:15 AM Could you mean, "In The Jailhouse Now"? I had friend named Ramblin Bob, He use to and cheat and steal and rob, He'd do anything that was lowdown. Is this what you are looking for? Willy Nelson recorded this on an album with the outlaws in the 70's but its much older than that. Don |
Subject: RE: Words to From: lesblank Date: 23 Jan 99 - 12:44 PM COWPIE doesn't have it, but I remember it being done in the mid fifties by Webb Pierce. Gene ought to know !! |
Subject: RE: Words to Ramblin Bob From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Jan 99 - 12:58 PM Doesn't have what (click here), Les? If it's IN THE JAILHOUSE NOW, Cowpie has two versions (one posted by the Amazing Gene Graham). I found it under "Jailhouse." I wish Cowpie would have better instructions for their search engine. Maybe we could have Gene talk to the boss there. I Haven't figured out how to do a reliable Cowpie search for more than one word. Suzy Bogguss and Chet Atkins have a great rendition of that song on their album called Simpatico. Another classic is the album Atkins did with Mark Knopfler - all classic songs, and they had a great time doing them. So, Cap't Bob, is that the song you're looking for? -Joe Offer-

Subject: RE: Words to From: Cap't Bob Date: 18 Apr 99 - 11:58 PM Thanks for the information Joe. Most likely the reason I was having trouble finding this song was that I thought it was "Ramblin Bob". I learned this song back in the 40's when my dad bought me a uke. Over the years I got some of the words mixed up a bit. I did learn the 2nd verse as "Once played a game called poker, pinochole, wiss and yoker, but shooting dice etc." Thanks again ~ Cap't Bob |
Subject: RE: Words to From: Arkie Date: 19 Apr 99 - 02:23 PM Pink Anderson did an interesting version of In the Jailhouse Now, but do not know it was based on number 1 or 2. Actually, it probably doesn't matter. If anyone could find it, it would be worth a listen. Since I have not looked for it yet, maybe I could find it. |
