It's a moot point Breezy - you can't afford Kate Rusby anyway...
But to play the game: For the same price, I'd choose Kate Rusby.
For 2/3 of KR's price, I'd choose Stanley.

What is the choice - is Chesham running on Sundays now, or have you moved to Mondays? Do they have Kate Rusby on the night you have Stanley Accrington? Or is it all a longWindwarded way of saying you have booked Stanley because you would not pay what Kate was asking for? Confusion reigns...

If you don't have the dosh there is no contest! We tried to book Kate for our festival but were told she only does 'big' (read expensive) venues now:-( Stan may not be as well known nationaly but he is funnier, writes better songs and wears better wooly jumpers:-) And you can, of course, regularly see him at local folk clubs for the price of a pint!

Stan falls into the category of a funny man who uses Folk as a vehicle in much the same way that Billy Connolly, Jasper Carrot, Richard Digance, Mike Elliot and Mike Harding did (although very different)

If you have listened to Radio programms of the ilk of 'The Hudd Lines' then I think Stan should and could easily be writing such material

His folk club work is current and topical in the main and he may or could be working any venue to my mind

He is a genius, in much the same way that Les Barker is. Folk clubs appear to be their bread and butter ~ its time that they were both in the main stream and reaching wider audiences than folk clubs

Kate Rusby has outgrown smaller Folk Club venues and appears to be making inroads into more generalist and lucrative areas of main stream yet still folk related work and good luck to her!

Horses for courses perhaps?
