I have a Paternotte that is 50+ year old and in dire need of TLC Is there anyone out there familar with these instruments who can help with the following.

Bridge;
The guitar has had a classical style nylon string type bridge crudley glued on I am sure this is wrong. What sort of bridge is correct? perhaps a floating type a la the rest of the SelMac genus

Machine head buttons :
the machine heads look crude but serviceable and have beautiful huge round amber buttons unfortunately one is missing any ideas on replacements

Tailpiece
currently fitted is a thin tailpiece its nickel plated will only accept loop end strings (not a problem as I will string it with Argentines)and has an engraving of a female ballet dancer on points with strapping thighs and 1940's hairdo,
I'm not keen on the perm but the rest of the tailpiece has a certain charm . I doubt the tailpiece is original and its certainly not like the boring trapezoid on the guitars label, it will stay but what is original

If you give a bit more detail, someone may have a clue what you are talking about, or did you invent it just to foil the mudcatters ?

eric

I was refreshing a thread that had got no response
A Paternotte is a derivative of the Maccaferri type of guitar most usually associated with Django Reinhardt
