Radriano and I will be performing an African American History Month program called "Chanteys: The African American and Carribbean Connection," this Saturday, February 11th, 2-3pm aboard the sailing ship Balclutha. The ship is docked at Hyde Street Pier on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, and is presented by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. No extra charge for the prtogram above the standard ships admission fees, which are $5 adults, under 16 free. Free with any national park pass (Golden Eage, Golden Age, Golden Access, NPS).

The choruses to these chanteys are easy to follow, and you're encouraged to sing along. No advance tickets sold. just come to the ticket booth, about halfway up the pier. For more information, see the park's website: http://www.nps.gov/safr/html, or call the ranger office: 415-556-6435.

How about sailing the Balclutha around the Horn and up to Portland-East? We would provide you a warm welcome and thousands, if not dozens, of folks eager to hear and participate in your program.

Wish I could make it BUT if you take the Balclutha to Portland-East I'll give both arms to sign on for both legs (can't afford any organs here). Have a great sing guys.

If you are listening to MORE UNCOMMON SAILOR SONGS this weekend, be so kind as to pick one song that you think is a keeper, and revive the CD thread. It is a lonely job generating millions of dollars of sales from a CD, as you and Peter well know, and CD's are my sole source of income, other than the lottery!
