Subject: Sessions in Dublin From: Dickmac Date: 09 Mar 06 - 03:28 PM I'll be in Dublin this weekend for the Ireland v Scotland rugby international and will be looking for a session on Sunday 12th and possibly Friday 10th. In the past I've gone to the Sunday session at The Lighthouse in Howth but this is currently being redeveloped. I know there's plenty of music in the Temple Bar area but I'm looking for a session where participation is possible (and welcomed) Dick |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dublin From: Fidjit Date: 10 Mar 06 - 04:22 PM They have a session at their National house in Monkstown on Saturdays. Cheap as old chips. Just take the Dart to Monkstown, (20min). Then a 5 min walk. Good Ceilidh and a session in the bar. If you run into Gabby say hello. She's usually at the Lighthouse too. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dublin From: Declan Date: 11 Mar 06 - 09:55 AM I wouldn't necessarily assume that people joining in would be welcomed at all the sessions mentioned in the above posts. Generally speaking the size of the welcome will be proportional to the musical ability of those wishing to join. A bit of discretion is advised! By the way unfortuantely The Lighthouse in Howth is by all accounts being redeveoped, but not as a pub. A number of other Pubs in Howth are also under threat of being converted into more lucrative appartment blocks. As far as I know the Pier House remains a venue for sessions, at least for the moment. |
Subject: RE: Sessions in Dublin From: erinmaidin Date: 12 Mar 06 - 08:53 AM It's a pity I didn't read this thread until this morning. I host a session in the city on Saturday nights. The venue is Nancy Hands Pub on Parkgate St. up by the Phoenix Park. We're just at it a short while but it has been fun and well recieved...and ....musicians are welcome to join in. There will be a lapse of a few weeks starting St.Pat's weekend..but will be back at it upon my return from working in the states. |
