Come and see Hazel & Emily Askew on Monday 13th March at the Waltham Abbey Folk Club. Superb musicians and singers. See their website www.askewsisters.co.uk (sorry, can't do so-called 'blue clicky'). Those of you who have seen them will vouch for that.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club meets every Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the Royal British Legion, Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey Essex. pm me for more details.

I hope to see some of you there.

Lynne Heraud

The Askews, Hazel and Emily
Be sure to come, on Monday to see
You'll get in a song
The night can't go wrong
So long as five minutes or less it will be

Those Askew sisters are damn good
They sing a song about Robin Wood . . .

. . . and a Pedlar but it doesn't scan.
Oh how I wish I had a van

That up to the Abbey on Monday would take me
To hear Glorishears and Eleanor Rigby.

Or maybe I'll get a lift from Russ
Instead of having to get the bus.

The night will truly be hot and alive
From Chingford, the bus is the 505
From Waltham Cross, it is the 250 or the 251, either is nifty
Though Countess Richard, to save the fuss
Get your arse on the phone to Russ

Saw the girls doing a short support at Musical Traditions on Friday (Judy and Dennis Cook being the main guests). Thought they were very good so you should have an excellent evening.

Sorry I didn't do a poem
It wasn't through choice
Go see the sisters
Fiddle, melodeon and voice

Go and see the sisters Askew
Of which there are at least two
it will be a right old treat
Cos they sound so neat
And if you sneeze, they will say, bless you.

We may be there, but, if not,
We will wear our hats askew
To celebrate the eponymous
Sisters

I almost wrote "Hello playmates!"
But it would have betrayed
My antiquity
And my dyslexia
In one phrase

Alan

They are talented, young
They can sing, they can play
If you missed 'em last night
Well, what can I say?
You should have been there
To hear the notes ring
To listen, amazed
As their songs they did sing
So don't miss the chance
For see them you should
They're inspired, they are skilful
They're really quite good!
