Subject: RE: Chord Req: Barring of the Door From: The Sandman Date: 22 Nov 06 - 12:08 PM jIM Carroll has a good point by singing the song unaccompanied first, you can bring out the story of the song. when you play it on the guitar, remember the song is in 6/8,the best waY to get the correct ryhtymic pulse for6/8 is to pluck a bass string with your thumb,on the first beat, but make the thumb last for two beats, on beat three pluck a treble string, then on beat 4 thumb again for two beats but not quite as strong as beat 1,then pluck atreble string on beat 6.THE RHYTHYM IS HUMPTY DUMPTY 1 2 3 4 5 6, This rhythym 6/8or jig time,is unfamiliar to many rock musicians, consequently many guitarists struggle with it,it is not even but stressed first beat and to a lesser extent beat4.DickMiles |
