Of course they can, if they have any 78's and a record player :-)

How very odd - just as I opened this the phone rang and it was our HP account manager for Hull and the East Riding health trust!

He hasn't got a 78 player though...

:D (tG)

I have two Rega Planar decks but neither play 78's. Well not at the right speed................................

I complained a few years ago about not being able to play my 78's and a brother-inlaw gifted us with a player that he bought at a board of education auction. I think he said he bought three of them, probably for $5 for the lot.

When I got it home and went looking for my 78s to try to play one I found that they not only weren't where I thought they were, they weren't. (say "period" out loud)

Still don't know if the d... thing works. It spins, but after looking at the needle I'm scared to put one of the records I've picked up since on it to try it out.

John

How much brown sauce does the Hull and the East Riding health trust use then Dave?

If all else fails you could always turn them into flower pots/bulb pots.

Does any one remember doing this years ago?

Hehehehe:-)

Not THAT HP! - I meant the Houses of Parliament...

Just a bit of complete trivial nonsense. Hammonds Yorkshire sauce is made in Lancashire by a company from Berksire. Just thought you would like to know...

:D

If you fancy a trip over to Derbyshire, and you're willing to do a bit of work, I'll give you a nice little cupboard (worth a fortune on the antique market I'm sure) with a 33/45/78 player built in. It went round when I last tried it 15 years ago. I suspect the cartridge is somewhat foxed.

PM me if you want a go. And whoever heard of being on thread on Mudcat?

And I thought that in Hull "cutting edge technology" was sharpening jOhn's pen knife blade.
Qack!

Thanks for the offer Paul, all I want to do is to record a couple of sides for a fellow mcatter so I'm just trying to track down a working deck A friend of mine had one of those cabinet things it had doors that could be used as volume and tone controls but theyve moved to a smaller house and parted with the contraption

So I'm still hunting
