Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 04 May 06 - 12:18 PM Just got back. Had a great time. Thanks to Glen and his team. Great to meet so many mudcatters :-) Muppitz, Joules, Raggytash, Les B, El Greco and I am sure there were more, but that real ale seems to sull your denses. Muppitz, you naughty thing, corrupting half of Ember in the showers. :-) They were very good weren't they. |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: muppitz Date: 03 May 06 - 08:12 AM Ah, well you see, I'm frequently being confused with muppett, who was also there this year so I'm not surprised you didn't know Geoff! We're hoping to sort Ember a gig or two round our end, we will be seeing more of them I'm sure, they are good aren't they! muppitz x |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,old git Date: 02 May 06 - 03:46 PM Tina...if I'd realised you and Muppitz were the same person I might have used that name instead..either way I enjoyed your singing. As for your mention of Ember...what about their two sets...what a breath of fresh air they were...we'll be hearing a lot more of them I'm sure geoff |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: LesB Date: 02 May 06 - 03:12 PM Muppitz, "corrupt half of Ember into joining us in the showers". It's a good job I know what goes on in the showers! Some may not! The mens showers too! Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: muppitz Date: 02 May 06 - 02:56 PM Well, I can't really say anything new on the congratulations front, but I'm sad to say I was stewarding for the entirity of the Sunday night concert so I didn't see much of it. Managed to corrupt half of Ember into joining us in the showers, had very little sleep, had a very good time in the Endeavour (one day Geoff will remember my name and I won't be "Julie's daughter!") didn't quite make it to the Tap though and the concerts I did get to, I thoroughly enjoyed! Well done all! For anyone who is going, see you at Wheaton Aston! muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,old git Date: 02 May 06 - 01:35 PM yes..sorry...I meant to say thanks to Glen and his team for all their hard work. I know he was pleased that everything ran so smoothly...almost as smoothly as his new hairstyle (if style is the right word!) geoff |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Les from Hull Date: 02 May 06 - 09:46 AM Maggie and I had a great time, mostly commuting between the Endeavour and the Tap 'n' Spile. Thanks to Geoff for the Endeavour sessions and to Jude and Paul for the ones in the Tap. Both were excellent. And a special big thank you to Glen and the rest of the crew for putting together another great festival. Maggie and Les |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: LesB Date: 02 May 06 - 08:37 AM Great Festival. Well done Glen & the team. This year each concert was perfectly balenced as regard to musical styles & experience. Saw some good dancing, had some nice beer & met a couple of Mudcatters for the first time, El Greko & The Villan ( my namesake). Next one for me is Cleethorpes. Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Tom Bliss Date: 02 May 06 - 04:02 AM Yes - great festival as ever and a lovely atmosphere all round, (and George was on top form in spite of the jet-lag). Shame the Endeavour won't let kids in though. I'd been planning to try out some new songs but couldn't with my lad in tow, and I couldn't join Napper in the Angel for the same reason. Would be good if there was more happening in pubs that are child-friendly... Still, we'll be back next year, big time and four-strong (thanks for the promise, C+G). Tom |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Tig Date: 01 May 06 - 05:33 PM Brilliant Festival - thanks Glen & all the rest of the team. Not heard Vin in such good form for years and the rest of the guests were well up to par. Wished I was dancing at the bandstand - it was B**** cold watching! Roll on next year! |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,old git Date: 01 May 06 - 03:36 PM 2 great afternoons in the Endeavour..excellent sets from all the booked guests and some good floor singers too..and from what i could see there were some good nights there too. The removal of the booths and increased space have definitely helped. Thanks to Danny,Mick,Steve and Sue for all their help with making it all work. from what I've heard from others the rest of the festival was a cracker too. Here's to the 11th!!! geoff |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Commander Crabbe Date: 30 Apr 06 - 07:03 AM What a good night in the FILO. Great to see everyone. CC |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: gnomad Date: 27 Apr 06 - 04:17 PM 'fraid passive smoking is still the order in the Endeavour, but it is usually better-ventilated than most such. I can confirm removal of the booths has improved the room's usability. Sorry Old Git (how many customer letters have I longed to open with that line?) I shan't make your Saturday episode as I'm doing the one at the Tap. Hope to see you during the w/end & maybe catch some of Sunday's spasm. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: George Papavgeris Date: 27 Apr 06 - 02:58 PM According to the website all tickets are sold out now... See you there! |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 27 Apr 06 - 01:03 AM Is it non smoking in the Endeavor, or do the performers and non smokers have to suffer the passive smoking syndrome? I am Ok cuase I got me ticket, so don't really need the freebie bit. :-) Ah well, as I am up, might as well get some of the packing in the car, so we can get up there for lunchtime and savour the flavour before it gets going. I am getting to old to keep carying the missus to the car, she will have to walk to it next year :-) Hope to bump into some of you whilst up there, and keep up the good and hard work, that I know you all put in to make the event such a success. Now where is the bag to pack me missus in!!! I'll get me coat :-) Les |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Commander Crabbe Date: 26 Apr 06 - 07:57 PM Endeavour is next to the Italian, has more room of late, is still very popular and gets quite noisy. Open sesh in the FILO (First Inn last Out) on saturday, start around 8pm ish. Chris |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: old git Date: 26 Apr 06 - 05:04 PM I was of course being facetious (but only a little bit) I shall of course be running the folk sessions (floor singers and featured guests) on sat and sun afternoons. Yes Villan the noise at times does make it difficult if you can't get into the enclave. Glen assures me that this year the booths have been removed and the pool table moved to where they used to be so there should be a lot more room and seats in the end section. It is of course a public bar and so some noise is inevitable. But it is a chance to listen to festival guests for free!! see you there friends!!! geoff |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 26 Apr 06 - 04:09 PM Les Is the Endevour, the pub next to the Italian restaurant? If it is, how can it be the main venue with all the noise at the bar, and being stuck in the one little corner. I came to listen to somebody two years ago there and the noise was terrible, and bloody hard going for the performers. Have I got the right place :-) |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Les from Hull Date: 26 Apr 06 - 04:04 PM For the slightly bewildered: whereas the Tap n Spile and Endeavour are important fringe venues for Folk Week they are featured venues for Moor and Coast weekend. Other pubs (such as Black Horse) may welcome singing and playing if you ask nicely. Whitby Community College is one of the main venues, although friends (if he had any!) of a certain Old Git may congregate in the Endeavour. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:55 PM That there Brown Liquid is very good - looking forward to getting a dose of it :-) The beer I mean :-) |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Joules Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:22 PM Don't know if you've noticed Les but they are also pretty good at consuming the brown liquid as well as doleing it out.I for one am pleased that they don't cater at moor and coast it means i get a lie in, One can only take so much you know, serving breakfasts I mean |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:21 PM What is the School then Old Git? Surely that is THE main Venue certainly Friday and Sunday Nights for the folk music and Saturday for the Ceilidh. Have I got something wrong there?????? |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,old git Date: 26 Apr 06 - 02:28 PM Nay Raggy it is THE main venue over the weekend |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 26 Apr 06 - 04:47 AM Now he's completely bald ! Incidentally although I suggested that the Endeavour might be a fringe venue I should also have indicated that it is a main venue over the weekend |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Paco Rabanne Date: 26 Apr 06 - 04:21 AM I had a fringe when I was a small boy. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:59 AM Black Horse and Endeavour are two likely venues for "fringe" singing |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: flaj Date: 25 Apr 06 - 05:53 PM Hi Folks, Can anyone advise me where unofficial sessions happen at Moor and Coast as I've not been before, but have stewarded at Whitby Folk Weeks in August. I enjoy George Garside's organised ones but am playing for Morris sides in Goathland or elsewhere when his are on so can't get to them. Will be there from Friday pm to Monday so any suggestions as to likely venues, particularly evening ones would be useful. Flaj. |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 25 Apr 06 - 02:20 AM The weather forecast looks very promising (If they ever get it right) See following link Whitby 5 day Forecast |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: gnomad Date: 24 Apr 06 - 08:04 PM Garrigas is indeed no more. Site is under refurbishment with papered-over windows, but new signage indicates a bar/bistro. We'll see how it turns out. Further along we are supposed to have a new Indian eatery, but they are apparently having trouble recruiting a chef, so that one is also a "wait and see" at present. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: LesB Date: 24 Apr 06 - 05:16 PM No Garrigas! Shock Horror! I'll have to stuff my face in The Granby then. Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Steve Date: 24 Apr 06 - 01:16 PM Looking forward to an extended weekend, seeing Martin Simpson in Hull on the 27th then onto Whitby for the 28th and 29th pure bliss |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 24 Apr 06 - 11:39 AM They all fit :-) Glen should have put one for me at the ticket office, so will be there Friday to pick it up. Booked it before April at the cheaper price. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 24 Apr 06 - 11:05 AM You shall be welcomed with open arms (provided you have a valid ticket)me old love, seat at the front could be allocated to you on the grounds of incapacity, senility, imbecility, hokey pokey penny a lick an' all rest of it ! |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: Rasener Date: 24 Apr 06 - 10:59 AM I'll be there Thursday, and can't wait. Better not stop me getting in on Saturday night Raggytash, can you save a front seat for me please :-) |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 24 Apr 06 - 10:20 AM Hi Micheal, we are stewarding at the festival and are on duty for much of Saturday so will only manage a pint or two Saturday afternoon (have to stay something like sober for Saturday night, main door and the main concert)but will in all probability see you on Friday evening |

No I dont have shares in the place... |
