Subject: RE: Blaydon Races Festival 10&11 June 2006 From: 8_Pints Date: 11 Jun 06 - 07:37 PM Just returned today: what a wonderful relaxed event with everything easily accessible. Sing-around session had brilliant accoustics and provided delightful shady cool location out of the burning sun. Musicians' sessions saw plenty of Northumbrian Pipers and fiddlers creating haunting tunes drifting on the breeze. Highlights for me were Jez Lowe, Pauline Cato & Tom McConville (thanks for including "Beeswing" in the performance), Alistair Anderson, Vic Gammon, Pete Woods, Johnny Handle, Louis Killen, and Brian Watson hosted by Danny & Joyce McLeod together with Dave Webber & Anni Fentiman. For sheer enthuisiasm, the prize must go to the "Geordie Roadshow", Winlaton West Lane Primary School ably led by Mrs Cath Ianson-Clough. There will be no danger of the tradition dying out with this level of leadership and support! Congratulations to all who made this event a reality. I suggest you book early for next year's festival to avoid disappointment!!! Bob vG |
Subject: RE: Blaydon Races Festival 10&11 June 2006 From: John Routledge Date: 14 Jun 06 - 11:45 AM A really delightful Festival. In a world first I bought two CD's. Bags of opportunity to sing and play and listen to excellent performers at the top of their form. The location is perfect for the Festival so hopefully funding will ensure that it continues next year. |
