Sad news indeed. Sessions won't be the same. (I'm overseas at the moment - any news of funeral arrangements that I can pass on to chums in Leeds? Email from the NapperBliss.co.uk site if private, please).

Very sad news indeed. Dave was a good friend from my early days in the folk world even if we didn't see each other often these days. He was responsible for me playing (rather than making a noise with) the bodhran - and a lot of other things :-). The world will not be the same without him.

Thanks for letting us know. Big hugs to Graham if he picks this up.

I've known Dave since I first visited Leeds in 1989.

Up to recently he was the first man to turn up at a session and always welcomming to anyone who arrived. He put me up on a number of occassions when other friends weren't around for various reasons.

Leeds certainly won't seem the same without him.

Sincere codolences to Graham and the rest of the family.

Sad News!

The Leeds folk scene was held together by Dave and his brother Graham for a long time.I Know my own interest was sparked and maintained by the two of them.

A sad loss.......................

Sad loss of an old friend that I've known for 34 years. A drinking and singing mate at numerous festivals and sessions, a gentle giant of a man. He will be sadly missed by all who came in contact with him.

My sincere condolences to Graham.

Daffydd

Heartfelt condolences to Graham.
It was impossible to mention Dave in the same sentence ,without mentioning Graham . Both added colour and character to the folkscene in the North of England.

Battle on Graham !!!!!

Cheers ,
Betsy.

I remember Dave from my early days on the Yorkshire folk scene. I haven't seen him for many years now, although I heard news of him from time to time.

A true gent who will be missed by many.

What a great blow, Eddie Mac rang me to tell me and I couldn't take it in - Dave and Graham were stalwarts of the Dyer's arms sessions in Coventry throughout the 70's and 80's despite the fact that they had to drive down from Leeds - condolences from Brenda and myself to Graham and his family.

Just got back - t'were a reet good do and Dave would have been proud (and knowing him surprised) to see so many old friends there. Left the Rosco just as a brilliant session was getting going.

Big Hugs to Graham.

Yes I can't dissagree with that comment, I also had to leave earlier than I wished.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Folky Paul for announcing this on Mudcat, because I otherwise would not have known.
