Hi there , I'm looking for the lyrics of Mazurka by Queen Ida its in French ( Patois I think ) lots of words we don't understand , we'd like to do this song with our band .Be very pleased if someone could help us    greetings    Gilbert

Guest Helseng, I love Zydeco music so I tried to find the lyrics too, but, like Peace, I had no luck. Hopefully, a member of this forum, PoppaGator who is from New Orleans and I believe is back there now, will see this thread and post the information you are seeking.

I did find Muzurka included as #8 out of 12 songs on this Queen Ida album:Uptown Zydeco but there were no lyrics included.

And I found a small sound clip of that song sung by a man in French or Patois, but I had to leave that web site and attend to some work [work has the nerve to intrude on this activity!!] And now I can't recall which one it was. Sorry.

Also, Helseng, if this isn't another tag name you use, at least one other person is requesting information about the same song:

I listened to a sound sample, and the only words I could make out were:

"on va danser la mazurka dans...."

Unfortunately, Googling with that phrase didn't help.

Searching for three years now. The text is in louisiana french, by queen ida and al lewis. Perhaps that someone who speaks louisiana french can write the words down. I can speak and write french as is common in France, but I am not familiar with louisiana french, as it is spoken in the south of the united states. I can read the written ouisiana french quite well. So please if there is anyone who can write down the song as sang by queen ida.

According to AllMusic.com, the spelling is:
MAZUKA on "Queen Ida & the Bon Temps Zydeco Band: On Tour" (1982) and on Aly Bain's album: "Aly Meets the Cajuns" (1994);
LE MAZUKA on "Play the Zydeco" (1990); and
MAZURKA on "Uptown Zydeco" (1982) and "Zydeco Dance Party" (1993).

Given the discrepancy on published albums, I think it is reasonable to have both spellings in the thread title.
