Subject: STANLEY ACCRINGTON IN MIDDLEWICH From: Dave Roberts Date: 10 May 06 - 03:06 PM SALT TOWN PROMOTIONS and LIVE & LOCAL EVENTS PRESENT STANLEY ACCRINGTON at The Boar's Head, Middlewich on Friday 19th May Yes, it's true. Following the resounding success of our LES BARKER show on Good Friday, Salt Town Promotions and Live & Local Events are proud to present Mr Accrington in all his glory. STANLEY ACCRINGTON is no stranger to Middlewich. Well, no stranger than he used to be, anyway. He's appeared here many times, including, of course, the memorable time he helped put us on the map via BBC Radio Two's National Music Day in 1992. And now, he's back. And not a moment too soon. See him live at the Boar's Head in this not-to-be-missed show with tried and almost-to-be-trusted support, the Salt Town Poets! Get yourselves to Middlewich (Boar's Head) on 19th. May; Stanley Accrington is just one of those artists you simply have to see and at only £6 a ticket, it's a steal! See you there Chummie |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 12 May 06 - 03:29 AM I forgot to mention that, following his footballing namesake's rather alarming successes in the football League, Stanley has told us that he is thinking of changing his name to Alexandra Crewe. I just thought you ought to know. |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 12 May 06 - 11:29 AM A really must see artist I've already booked my ticket Can't wait Josher |

Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 16 May 06 - 07:10 AM Whose Alexander and whats Crewe?? |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 16 May 06 - 08:49 PM Josher, I am informed that Crewe Alexandra is a local football (soccer, to our American friends) team. Football is, as you may know, a popular game featuring some people kicking a ball around a field to little real purpose. The 'Alex', as some people are wont to call the team, are based in the famous railway town of Crewe which can be found quite near to Middlewich, the cultural capital of Cheshire. Other famous Alex's include my grandson. He's called Alex, by the way. |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: GUEST,Skiffler Date: 17 May 06 - 09:57 AM Not too mention Alex Skiffler the legendary cheshire six-string banjo player who can be seen at Middlewich Open Mic tonight and may just be there for the Stan Acc gig too. |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 17 May 06 - 10:58 AM Indeed. Thanks Alex - looking forward to seeing you. Which reminds me - tickets will be available at the cultural soiree which is Middlewich Open Mike tonight (17th May). But fear not. If you should, through an oversight, neglect to either buy or reserve yours, you will still be able to pay on the door. As has been mentioned, at only £6 (£5 concessions) it's a steal. |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 18 May 06 - 11:16 AM "Middlewich the cultural capital of Cheshire" And so it is I myself ventured into the audience at Open Mic last night and behold culture was everywhere. On a more serious note I hear people should get to the Stan Acc gig ealry as space may be limited by the demand for tickets is this true?? |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 18 May 06 - 12:03 PM Josher, It is indeed. |

Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 20 May 06 - 03:55 AM Well many thanks to all who came along to support us and to see Stanley in all his magnificence. One hesitates to use the word 'genius', of course, as it's too easily bandied about these days, but really there is no other word for Mr Accrington. It's quite a long time since we saw him in action, and to be truthful, we'd forgotten just how brilliant he can be. We'll certainly be having him back in Middlewich again before too long. Next from Salt Town Promotions/Live & LOcal Events is the redoubtable Bernard Wrigley on August 4th. Thanks for your time. Dave, Ian & Mike and Dave Thompson STP/Live & Local Events |

Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 23 May 06 - 07:09 AM Dave Sooorrryyy been a little busy at the moment but did he or didn't he?? NO he didn't, to quote the man, " it's only going to be a fleeting thing so it's not worth writing a song about it". As for the Visa, Ha I say I will just become an illegal immigrant and then I can stay forever!!! Josher |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave the Gnome Date: 23 May 06 - 07:27 AM Did you know that an anagram of the Da Vinci code is Dave Docini? He is a Mafia hit man who probably threatened Stan into not singing the song... As to becoming an illegal immigrant - Aren't you already one of them? Cheshire county council are not as fussy as Salford you know... :D (tG) |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 23 May 06 - 02:07 PM I wondered who the big guy with the homburg and violin case was. No I'm legal over here, Green card and everything, it's getting back across the border each time that's a bit of a bugger. Got to try and do it again this Sunday as I have a gig in Sale. Never mind if I'm caught i'll just plead insanitary. Josher |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Dave Roberts Date: 24 May 06 - 03:28 AM Josher, I take it you'll be performing 'Last Train To Bacup'? Actually my brother has lived in Sale since leaving Middlewich nearly forty years ago and is slowly becoming accepted by the natives. He's a lot posher than I am (who isn't?) and started his working life at the Cheshire County Council's education department. He retired early from Trafford's Education Department, the same place where one S.Dent, who you may know, used to work. Small world ain't it? I think it helps that Sale was, at one time, in the County of Cheshire. So they'll know class when they see it. After the excellent StanAcc gig last Friday more than one person has asked us why artists such as he are not booked for the Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival any more. I've told them all that they should take this up with the festival director and/or members of the committee. |
Subject: RE: Stanley Accrington in Middlewich From: Josher Date: 24 May 06 - 03:48 AM I certainly will be doing last train. I couldn't agree more about Stan and his amazing talent, as to why he and others like him are not booked, well I have my theories but let's just say it's perhaps a case of Glitz or could that be sparkley triumphing over substance. Josher. |
