Authors: Lee Adams and Charles Strouse, written for
"All American," a 1962 Broadway musical.
The actor in the musical was Ray Bolger. And after him,
everybody, I mean EVERYBODY, recorded the song.

Tony Bennett's voice, for sure, in my ear.
Possible the late Al Martino (played a part in The Godfather film).

I know nothing of who wrote the song.
