I'm thinking about it. A shame that I live so close but have never made it. There always seems to be conflicting plans. The line up of talent this year looks great! Lost among the headliners is a local performer, Jim Richard, who should not be missed if you get there.

Beer ... I last saw Valdy many years ago at the Owen Sound Folk festival. He will be worth seeing again. To bad I'll miss that in St. John's ... I'm going to be there in the last week of August.

Gotta find a large tent for Stanfest ... we'll be taking our 2 hounds with us.

I just posted to the Stanfest Forum saying much the same as you re Jim Richards. I'm also a musician from Canso. I'd moved away from home some time ago but always heard great things from friends who played with Jim. Last summer we got to jam a few times at a couple festivals. What a talent! Can't wait to catch him on stage at Stanfest.

Open Mike..Garnet was there a couple years back and gave an awesome performance! The tears flowed freely sidestage. Brave performance of "Night Drive" on the main stage. On of those great musical moments I'll never forget.

Great line up this year!

Yeh Jim, I remember that you used to get airplay on CJFX in past years when they still played good music. Not much today though, as pure crap fills the airwaves.
Canso has no shortage of local talent! I play a bit at some local jams around the Strait area and have become friends with the Richards brothers.

i seem to remember a festival called Fogerty's Cove in his honor--
or an event taking place there? can anyone recall this?

there was some ceremony recently where he was posthumously given
an award--perhaps a Juno? unfortunatley neither his parents or brother
were invited .

Well Stanfest is over for another year. Performances were great but the Canso weather was a bit of a challenge, being very windy and cool.
Jim Richards got a standing ovation for his rendition of " Sunday Morning Comming Down." I didn't meet up with Songsmith but perhaps another time Jim.......
One thing that I wonder about though...
When Ariel and Stan's children were on stage to sing Stan's songs on Sunday afternoon Garnet was not to be seen. I know that he tries to avoid Stan's shadow but it would have been great to see him up there with the rest of the family! Perhaps next time..........

It was just not for him anyway I thought he was a great climax.

Not sure bout Ember Swift, maybe too avant garde ? but great visual, who knows

Guy Davis too for me, great entertainment inspite of the noise in the pourhouse

best for me was Chuck Brodsky, great latest album
