Subject: Camp Alexandra, Vanc. B.C. From: GUEST,mg Date: 07 Jun 06 - 06:10 PM Hope everyone can attend this fun camp. Right past Canadian/US Border on the beach..in White Rock, not Vancouver proper. PRobably 30 miles south of Vancouver. Can be reached by public transportation from Seattle or Vancouver..take Grayhound or Quick Express to Vancouver and public bus backtracking to White Rock..might be shortcuts but I don't know them. Anyway, it is $80 US and really has wonderful singing, good accomodations, usually fairly good food with a great salmon dinner...singing till way late...swimming, walking, touristy things..it is a beach village..well developed by now. Google Vancouver Folk Song Society. Last I heard there was still space. I'll be on early morning train (with a dollar in my hand) from Portland..then Amtrak bus to B.C. mg |

Subject: RE: CAMP ALEXANDRA NEAR VANCOUVER BC From: fretless Date: 08 Jun 06 - 01:16 PM Dates are 6/23-26. I've never been to the camp but I've been to White Rock lots of times (in-laws). There's a funky little waterfront strip that occasionally appeared (although described as something else) in episodes of the X Files, which was filmed in BC. Fresh Dungeness crabs are often for sale at the end of the dock near the painted rock. |
