Does anyone recognize this song?

"She never said a solitary word"
I was ridin' 'cross the prairie, the prairie far and wide, when I saw
a gal come riding, and I rode up very closely by her side- But she
never said a word, not a solitary word, she never said a solitary
word. I took her many charms, held her closely in my arms, but she
never said a solitary word. I said, "Ma'am, the way you kissed me,
I'll remember all my life--- and I want you for my everlovin' wife.
But she never said a word, not a solitary word, etc. On the day that
we got married, I was happy til I saw pearly teeth upon the dresser,
and her wooden leg was holding back the door. But I never said a word,
though she chattered like a bird; I never said a solitary word-- I
just saddled up old paint and I got to where she ain't and I never
said a solitary word... This from the 1940's?

Thanks
Cookie

Well, I see at HoosierHotshots.com that the Hotshots recorded a song called "She Never Said a Solitary Word," but that's all I could find about it. Sounds like it fits in with our Songs of Dismemberment thread, and maybe partly with After the Ball and The Old Maid and the Burglar and Dismantled Bride - and with a number of songs that Kendall sings. I think he has a glass eye/wooden leg fixation...

SHE NEVER SAID A SOLITARY WORD
From the film "Sing Me A Song Of Texas" (1945)

Foy Willing & The Riders of the Purple Sage (Film
Soundtrack) - 1945

I was ridin' 'cross the prairie
The prairie far and wide
When I saw a gal come riding
And I rode up very closely by her side

But she never said a word
Not a solitary word
She never said a solitary word
I took her many charms
Held her closely in my arms
But she never said a solitary word

I said, "Ma'am
The way you kissed me
I'll remember all my life
And I want you for my everlovin' wife"

But she never said a word
Not a solitary word
She never said a solitary word
I took her many charms
Held her closely in my arms
But she never said a solitary word

On the day that we got married
I was happy till I saw
Pearly teeth upon the dresser
And her wooden leg was holding back the door

But I never said a word
Though she chattered like a bird
I never said a solitary word
I just saddled up old paint
And I got to where she ain't
Aand I never said a solitary word
