The third Glasson Dock Festival near Lancaster takes place this weekend and the weather looks to be good.

Artists include Ken Nicol, Martin Carthy, Johnny Dickinson, Back Of the Moon, Abbie Lathe, Howdenjones, Duncan McFarlane Band (acoustic) Kerfuffle, Emma and the Professor, Will Morgan, Ember, Paul Pearson and Jonathan Draper, The Hustle Blues Band, Hobow, John and Ailsa Booth, Silverwheel, Flamin Ada, Tegwen Roberts, Wayfarer, Stompy, and Five in a Bar. There will also be children's entertainment from Wizardmarra.

The main concerts are centred in the intimate setting of the village hall and there will be music around the village.

More details here http://www.glassonfestival.org.uk/html/thefestival.html

One change to the programme is my fiddle workshop will now be on Sunday morning at the Dalton Arms.

.... They make concrete boats at Glasson Dock. Seriously! Will try and get there on Sunday briefly - aged parent living in Cleveleys to visit first. Cleckheaton committment on Saturday means I can't do more. But sounds good to me!

hi Sarah,
racing over from Leeds, Fri eve, straight from work wi m' acoustic band....
Soundcheck for us scheduled for 7.30...
On at 8.30 pm for only a half hour!!!!
My, that's a long way in a rush for the band to do such a short spot and then be redundant!
But we're rarin' to give it our best shot.
Beautiful place tho - and so.....
a beery night for us, then, I suppose.
Hic! - D

Oh well - enjoy the beer Duncan! We're doing similar in a couple of weeks and go down to Somerset for it. We'll make sure we enjoy the craic while we're there though.

Cheers
Sarah

Would love to "do" this "local" festival one year, especially with IG being the sailor he is - and his crew ain't too bad!

Unfortunately we're arcross the hills at Cleckheaton this year.. maybe next year, have a great festival and say 'ello from us...

I would have thought that, at a music festival, even one held in a village by water, being decent musicians was more important than being sailors - not suggesting TIGB aren't, of course.

Did anybody go? How was it? It's literally just down the road from me but I had family visiting so couldn't get there

I went yesterday - great fun - very very hot. Got a little session in with two hurdy gurdy players with my nyckelharpa!

Cheers

Brilliant set on Saturday afternoon in the village hall - especially the amazing young talent of Kerfuffle - felt like I was witnessing the beginnings of something big! Well done to the people of Glasson - may you go from strength to strength!!

An old friend of mine (Eric Hoyes) was the Harbour Master at Glasson Dock, he sure would have loved this festival. I miss the place myself, if anyone remembers him and knows his daughter, say hi to her from Dave in Nova Scotia for me.

We enjoyed our weekend at Glasson, although we never managed to make the main shows in the Village Hall. The two acoustic concerts we went to in the church were great with a great mix of music and styles. Sessions were good as well, although we managed not to find the main Saturday evening session. I hear the early morning session on the camp site was awesome -- that will teach us to stay in a hotel, our excuse was it was our wedding anniversary. The nyckelharpa and hurdy gurdys were superb as was the young lad Kieron on the violin on Saturday in the sessions -- he even stayed up Friday night so he had that authentic musicians too many late nights look!

Congratulations to all the organiser, performers and participants. The location grows on you as well.

Can anyone advise what / where the camping arrangements were at the Festival please? I've looked on the site, but it doesn't have any info - I can only find details of places with residential caravans - hanks in advance
