Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: MikkinNotts Date: 28 Jun 06 - 06:33 AM Went for the first time last year and enjoyed it. Best place to be was in the session marquee. Unfortunately I can only make it on Sat this year so will probably miss out on the fun sessions as not camping this year. Looking forward to catching up with some of you again. Hey "GUEST,MC Fat" is that you Terry??? (apologies if not) There had better be room for Fat Bastards 'cause they won't get both you and me in………… hope you have got your tent reinforced this year!!! Cheers Mikk PS Bring on the Belly Dancers!!! |
Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: muppitz Date: 28 Jun 06 - 07:46 AM Always room for a fat bastard Jim!!! Tim, you're not having your guitar back, I have married it! Guest, what is your definition of Folk Music, can you elaborate perhaps? That's not a nasty comment, I'm just intrigued to hear your views. Thanks for putting the date in Bassic, a fairly important detail I forgot! muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: mandotim Date: 28 Jun 06 - 05:42 PM You can't marry my guitar, 'cos that would mean it's a bigamist, and it's not, it's a Takamine. Nice axe though, eh? See you Friday, save me a seat (will we get three fat bastards in all at once?) Tim |
Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: JohnB Date: 28 Jun 06 - 10:22 PM We (Orange Peel Morris) will be having our own small get together in Mansfield Ontario, two of our team live just outside the place, after our dancing at the Alliston, Canada Day celebrations. We will try to think of you, if we can remeber anything by then. Good Luck with your Festival, JohnB |

Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: muppitz Date: 30 Jun 06 - 10:57 AM Just to update, the weather forecast is very favourable, somewhere around 30 Saturday & Sunday! However I've been put down to steward during the England match, can anyone lend me a portable TV so I can watch something during my time on the gate? muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: GUEST,MC Fat Date: 01 Jul 06 - 06:02 AM Hope all goes well won't be able to make it unfortunately |
Subject: RE: Mansfield UK Folk Festival From: BanjoRay Date: 01 Jul 06 - 08:46 PM Managed to get there for Saturday from about 5.30. Had a grand little session playing Old Time with Jock & Vera from the New Rope String Band outside the Hobgoblin tent. In the pavilion the acoustics were terrible, but New Rope did a superb spot, beautifully rehearsed, precise and extremely funny - I've never seen them (our their old line-up) perform, and I'm dead impressed, even though J and V are old mates. I thought the Bushberry Mountain Daredevils were a complete waste of time and space, but folk seemed to like them, so what do I know? After three unbearable tunes I fled and listened to a lovely session outside, with an excellent fiddler and a good German accordion player. Ray |
