Did anyone see "Midlands Today"?
An item on Bromyard festival began;
"What do you think of if someone mentions folk music?Arran sweaters? Men with straggly beards and pint pots? Sandals? Men strumming guitars? So 1960's!"
To illustrate this they showed photos of Vin Garbutt and Maxie and Mitch
Has this image now become so entrenched it's traditional? And if it's so out of date why keep perpetuating it? They also went on to say that none of the folk music of the 60's folk revival has stood the test of time...except Nick Drake!
(Goes off to cut throat in despair!)

Maybe you could pen a piece in reply: "What do you think of if someone mentions journalists? Sad old hacks who drink too much and peddle stereotypes?" Then you could attach a picture of some actor playing the archetypal journalist, in a dirty mac with a fag hanging off his bottom lip. Just a thought...
