Greetings, All!

Firstly, apologies for long silence re R&K Bandm, and sorry the proposed get-together didn't happen.

BUT ... You are all invited to give your time & talent for nowt (except a Rum & Kidney Band t-shirt, and the promise of regular similar invitations. Hello again, Bloke!!)

At the Humber Bridge 25 Festival, 13th-16th July (Thurs-Sun), 10 till 6 each day, at the St Andrew's Children's Hospice Marquee, on the north bank.

It's all 'unplugged', and any bands who'd like to do a set would be more than welcome. (I'm suggesting sets in the morning, and a session/singaround from 2 till 6, but it's all flexible).

Contact me via this (or the 'Hull Mudcatters...') thread (qv), or on 07837 774062.

It should be a super bash, lots going on, local media interest AND, I'm told, Blue Peter will be filming on the Thursday (I can't guarantee they'll visit the St Andrews marquee ... but I bet they do. Also, I don't know when it's likely to be during the day). Who could ask for more?

And don't forget the free and exclusive 'Rum & Kidney Band' t-shirt for all who take part.

No need to ask Tig these sort of events always happen on the Hull side,we're merely 2nd class citizens on the South bank only good for funding the North

Cheers, Bloke - 10 till 6 every day, definite sessions from 2, may need filling-in (...yes, I know, don't say it) in the mornings, all the Tshirts are roomy (cos I like 'em loose too)

It IS on the North Bank, but there's lots going on on the South (and, indeed, on the river itself) an'all.

(Also, the Tshirts are a very flattering navy blue, I'm told. Far kinder on the skin-tone than black)

I'm sure there'll be blue badge parking, but may not know where for certain until Thurs a.m. meself! So send a mobile number to 07837 774062, and I'll text/ring you on the day. Same for all of you - I promise to have the mobile (a) with me; (b) switched on, and (c) charged!!! (mkes a change).

Thanks for all your support. The spot/session thing is fairly flexible, so (unless you want to book a definite pitch) don't worry - we'll fit you in while people get drinks/lunch/look around the other stands &c.

And I'm told that Look North will be there on Friday.

Been looking at the Humber Bridge Bash website and there's a lot of stuff happening on the South side as well.

I still fancy overnight camping on the bridge - I suppose the wind would be a bit much at times!! No wonder they call it wild camping.

Latest info:

The Hospice still doesn't know exactly where their marquee's going to be, but believe it'll be near the cafe (very handy)

I'm not sure how close the parking is, but will find out tomorrow (and if there'll be a shuttle service if necessary), & let y'all know.

To any musicians that need a seat its probably best to take your own folding one as the tent only had a couple.
Blue badge parking was just at the entrance in what is usually the lorry park.

I think skippie and I will be coming there around 4.30 tomorrow to make a noise for an hour or so until we shoot off to Leeds for a ceilidh. BUT I assume the Sunday 2pm session is still on. Daughter has just arrived for the weekend complete with box and is looking forward to a couple of hours of music Sunday pm.
Is it all as planned? And will anyone else be coming along? (I'm not really totally sad and needful of support...really...)

Another fun day today - not as meny punters as we'd hoped, but the noise is pulling them into the Hospice's marquee. Well done, everyone.

There are half a dozen seats now - I denuded my garden.

And the latest news - although it's not definite yet:

We got talking to the North Bank Site Manager, and she's said that (boss & no other commitments willing) we can do the Sunday afternoon session on the main stage! Could be interesting.

Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Nice to meet jillfiddle and Willa today and to share music with 'catters and non-catters. What a pity the organisers of the event hadn't given much thought to how it would run. Competing with three other lots of amplified "music" was no fun!

(We had the amplified stuff fromthe stage too - but I simply asked them to turn it down a bit and there was no problem!)

Many, many thanks to you all!!

We had the music turned down twice on Saturday ... but it was still loud! (One of the BBC 'get inappropriately-dressed kiddies to do pseudo-erotic dances to loud CDs' initiatives. Or am I getting old, cynical AND prudish?)

On the Sunday, a few lads with cars with souped-up stereos were parked in the centre of the car park ... but were absolutely lovely - kept the volume down, and pointed the cars away from us, so the sound didn't carry too much.

All in all, I think the event itself was very poorly organised - a real missed opportunity. But the Hospice was delighted with our efforts - we took £130 in the bucket and, although they've not finished tallying up yet, think that the rest of it raised c.£850 due, in no small part, to our playing drawing people over.

So, well done everyone, and I hope you had as much fun as I did. Photos in 3 weeks or so, when I get back from Essex, and organise broadband.
