Subject: Lyr Add: LADY OF KNOCK From: Big Mick Date: 24 Feb 99 - 10:24 PM Here you go, my friend. LADY OF KNOCK Key of Bb Capo G3 There were people of all ages, gathered round the gable wall Poor and humble men and women, there were children at your call. We have gathered her before you, and our hearts are just the same Filled with joy and such a vision, as we pray your name. CHORUS Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all our cares and troubles cease. As we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, our Queen of Peace Though your message is unspoken, still the truth in silence lies. So I gaze upon your vision, and the truth I try to find. Here I stand with John, the teacher, and with Joseph at my side And I see the Lamb of God, on the altar glorified. CHORUS And the Lamb will comfort, and the woman clothed in the sun, will shine her light on everyone. Yes the Lamb will comfort, and the woman clothed in the sun, will shine her light on everyone. CHORUS, REPEAT LAST PHRASE OF CHORUS "LADY OF KNOCK, MY QUEEN OF PEACE" |
Subject: RE: lyric request: Our Lady of Knock (sp) From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Aug 01 - 05:21 AM Does anybody know anything more about this song and the story behind it? I'm going to Ireland with a church group Monday, and I'm supposed to lead the music. We're going to Knock, and it would be nice to know something about the song. The theology behind it makes me cringe, but it certainly seems to be popular. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: lyric request: Our Lady of Knock (sp) From: IanC Date: 03 Aug 01 - 05:26 AM Joe If you're going to Knock, see if you can find time to get to Killala. The Village Inn there has a great session, some of the other pubs in the village have music too. Knock is a wilderness. I went by RyanAir from Stansted for the 1998 bicentenary do and the plane was 7 hours late. By the time we got there, Knock airport had been closed 2 hours!
Cheers! |

Subject: RE: Irish Folk Tune From: GUEST,JTT Date: 16 Jan 07 - 07:41 PM Not to pour cold (holy) water on the beauty of the vision or anything, but there's a strong rumour in Ireland that the local priest was trying out a magic lantern someone had lent him at the time of the original visions, by projecting images of Our Lady on the gable wall of a nearby house... |
