Subject: Pls invite to (seaside?) club/singaround From: GUEST,Ian Pittaway Date: 24 Jul 06 - 04:20 PM I'm planning to do some solo travelling around England this summer, partly around the coast. I have no definite plans yet, so it would be lovely if any friendly Mudcatters hold or know of a folk club / singaround that is still on in the summer - preferably on the coast somewhere - so I have a club to sing to / listen to in the evening. If so, please give details of club address, night of week, starting time, contact. Cheers. |

Subject: RE: Pls invite to (seaside?) club/singaround From: Sue the Borderer Date: 25 Jul 06 - 07:28 PM And if you decide to come down Devon way, there's also Bideford Folk Club - every Thursday night at the Joiners Arms. The 'official start' is 8.30 but we often start singing/playing soon after 8. We love having visitors drop in and sing/play. Bideford also has a folk festival coming up from 14th-20th August, which has singarounds and sessions throughout the week. (Sorry, my blue clicky to the website - which is www.bidefordfolkfestival.co.uk - didn't work. I'll try again when I'm awake.) In fact, in between Sidmouth and Bideford Festivals you could go to Dartmoor Festival 11-13 Aug. For further information about what's on in Devon - much of it near the coast - try www.devonfolk.co.uk Do tell us where you decide to head for! Sue |

Subject: RE: Pls invite to (seaside?) club/singaround From: Abuwood Date: 28 Jul 06 - 03:15 AM A very useful thread Ian, must save this one. We found a nice Friday club last weekend (using Mr Red's Directory) in Mangotsfield near Bristol. And earlier in the year we went to Wheal Dream near the Lizard which was an excellent Sunday Club - never miss Bodmin club if you are in the West Country on a Friday, they sing as well as the Black Diamond! Happy Travelling! Ali |
