Hi all,

I'm working with Moseley Folk Festival taking place on 2-3rd September to organise a small fringe aspect taking place around the stalls, food areas etc.   Moseley is near Birmingham.

The idea is to have artists and small groups playing to and entertaining the crowds.   We're looking for artists who can play without electrification intermingling songs and chat/stories/folklore. The songs can be traditional or the artists but must have a strong folk base. The artist can be instrumental or vocal.

We can offer expenses, accomodation plus free entry to the festival when not playing. The idea is for the artist to play informally in loose rotation.

If interested do get in touch with me at [e-mail] as we're seeking to confirm the line up next week. This is a serious and genuine offer.   Next year this will be a bigger aspect to the festival and we will be collaborating with the festival team on their line up.

We also seek a good Morris / Sword Dance side who would be happy performing and can pay more for this.

Mark as a Brummie, I am rather shocked that Moseley is supposed to be near Birmingham.
In my day Moseley was a suberb of Birmingham. In fact the first part of the postcode is B13 - the B stands for Birmingham when I last went to school.

When did the change take place?

Well Villan when my brother lived in Bishops Stortford the first part of his postcode was CM but he wouldn't claim he lived in Chelmsford ;-)

Mind you looking at a map I agree that Moseley could clearly be considerd "part of" rather than "near" Birmingham.

I concur with Villan............Moseley is just 3 miles South from the absolute centre of Birmingham.............God knows I walked home slightly inebriated on more than dozens of occasions..........Who remembers when The Dubliners would always play in the back room at the Prince of Wales whenever they were in town........upstairs gigs at the Fighting Cocks..........The Trafalgar..............OOOHHH happy days and damaged liver

This is a quote I think last year when Brum had a freak windstorm.
Is the space of what, ten minutes? a freak windstorm ripped across the Birmingham suburbs of Hockley, Small Heath, Sparkhill, Balsall Heath, Moseley, Kings Heath, Edgbaston and other parts.

I think it was a case of too many brummies eating all the HP baked beans.

Frank, I lived the opposite side - Great Barr - sounds rather posh but isn't LOL

Frank, If you follow foorball, you must be a B'ham City supporter :-)

Does the Moseley/Sparkbrook area still have all the cracking Balti restuarants. Went to one many years ago where the owners were Muslim, and weren't allowed to serve alcohol. So you just took your own drinks along. I have to say the food was fantastic.

Les, never been a football supporter (rugby man)left Brum long time ago to live in London, returned for a few years and 9 years ago moved to rural Warks, however only 35 miles away so still return for a curry pilgrimage to Ladypool Rd or Stoney Lane...........never found a better curry anywhere !!

Its about 32 years ago that I left Brum, to go and live in Scotland.
