When using MS Outlook Express for e-mail, what's the procedure for transferring the account from one computer to another, where the same internet connection and service provider is being used?

I've loaded Outlook Express onto the new computer, but of course it assumes it's a new installation.

All help welcome.

Well, it is a new installation! Many ISPs provide detailed instructions. Go to Tools: Accounts and enter the required information. In the absence of instructions from your ISP, just enter the same account information that's on the old machine. It isn't a question of transferring the account, but of duplicating it. The OE help files contain basic instructions on the procedure.

For detailed instructions on transferring your existing email archive (if you should wish to do that), see thread Tech: Storing Email. Alternatively, read the help file in Outlook Express, specifically the sections on backing up and importing folders.

Thanks Michael.

I have now got the account working, but now need to transfer the archive. I'll try the thread you suggest.

Thanks for your help!
