Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 27 Aug 06 - 06:22 AM I know the Caravans at Holme Head are very cheap if basic - If Mrs Morphet is still letting them for the weekend that is . Any camping as well? Plent of B&B and other information here Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 27 Aug 06 - 06:33 AM It was VERY cold last year. Stunning scenery though - it was the first time I had been anywhere near there. I have been since - I was so impressed with the scenery. I would recommend anybody who hasn't been in the district to come and see it. Wrap up warm though. |
Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Carol Date: 27 Aug 06 - 06:51 AM Web Site is http://www.frenchbulldog.fsnet.co.uk/index.htm - sorry I can't make blue clickies. Doesn't seem to be a festival campsite as such but now we've our campervan I thought we would just turn up and look for somewhere, it shouldn't be too busy in October. Is Holme Head part of Ingleton? |

Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 10 Sep 06 - 07:19 AM Holme Head caravans are just under the railway viaduct, Carol. Just found that they are still letting with a minimum 2 night policy. They are cheap (around £15 per van per night I think) but I must warn everyone they are very basic as well. None of them are hooked up to main plumbing and drainage so a visit to the toilet block is required. Surprisingly they do have a Website! Holme Head caravans It is certainly a good alternative to camping and we spent many a happy frozen February night in them after singing in the Three Horseshoes till 2 in the morning:-) Shame the local scallies seem to have taken over that pub:-( Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 10 Sep 06 - 08:08 AM Just enquired and they are a bit dearer than I thought but not much - I enquired about an 8 berth and it was £20 per night. Still not bad at all. When we used to go we always used to take sleeping bags because it was easier than trying to make up the beds. First time we went must have been 20 years ago - It was the coldest ever recorded weekend in Ingleton with temperatures dropping to 15 below zero. The waterfalls had frozen up and we walked round them on the Saturday morning - It was a beautifuly clear day with a sky so blue it hurt your eyes! The sun sparkled off the frozen falls in a million places and the frost lay thick on the ground all day - One of the most magical sights I have seen. One of my mates, on waking on the Saturday said "Hey - Look at all that ice on the outside of the window" and banged on said aperture. Only to find that the ice was not on the outside but on the inside. Soon got him out of his sleeping bag when it all fell on him:-) Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend 6-8 October 2006 From: Soldier boy Date: 08 Oct 06 - 10:18 PM Great singing and playing session in The Wheatsheaf on Sat night and in The Old Hill Inn on Sunday. Well done my mate Muppett for picking up the bronze medal award in the funniest song concert held at the Old Hill Inn Sunday afternoon. Muppett has now collected the full set of medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) over the three years of this competition. That's got to be a record! Well done Muppett. The challenge now is to come up with a new song to reclaim the gold award next year ! |
