Just a reminder that Ingleton is on 6-8th October - we're hoping to try it this year. Sounds good, plenty of chance for some sining, sorry singing.

I'd go for the sinning but not the singing.

Plent of B&B and other information here

It was VERY cold last year.

Stunning scenery though - it was the first time I had been anywhere near there. I have been since - I was so impressed with the scenery.

I would recommend anybody who hasn't been in the district to come and see it. Wrap up warm though.

Web Site is http://www.frenchbulldog.fsnet.co.uk/index.htm - sorry I can't make blue clickies. Doesn't seem to be a festival campsite as such but now we've our campervan I thought we would just turn up and look for somewhere, it shouldn't be too busy in October. Is Holme Head part of Ingleton?

Holme Head caravans are just under the railway viaduct, Carol. Just found that they are still letting with a minimum 2 night policy. They are cheap (around £15 per van per night I think) but I must warn everyone they are very basic as well. None of them are hooked up to main plumbing and drainage so a visit to the toilet block is required. Surprisingly they do have a Website! Holme Head caravans It is certainly a good alternative to camping and we spent many a happy frozen February night in them after singing in the Three Horseshoes till 2 in the morning:-) Shame the local scallies seem to have taken over that pub:-(

Cheers

Just enquired and they are a bit dearer than I thought but not much - I enquired about an 8 berth and it was £20 per night. Still not bad at all. When we used to go we always used to take sleeping bags because it was easier than trying to make up the beds.

First time we went must have been 20 years ago - It was the coldest ever recorded weekend in Ingleton with temperatures dropping to 15 below zero. The waterfalls had frozen up and we walked round them on the Saturday morning - It was a beautifuly clear day with a sky so blue it hurt your eyes! The sun sparkled off the frozen falls in a million places and the frost lay thick on the ground all day - One of the most magical sights I have seen.

One of my mates, on waking on the Saturday said "Hey - Look at all that ice on the outside of the window" and banged on said aperture. Only to find that the ice was not on the outside but on the inside. Soon got him out of his sleeping bag when it all fell on him:-)

Cheers

Heigh! We are enjoying global warming up in here in the Yorkshire Dales!!!I'm hoping for a lovely weekend of folk and walking!!
There is a bunk barn and camping up at Ribblehead Station Hotel if you can't get in at Ingleton. Lot's happening at the Wheatsheaf and Craven Heifer as well as free concerts at the ex-sevicemans..Duncan Mcfarlane on the Saturday and Keeper' Fold on the Friday ..plus concert in the Village hall with John Tams and Barry Coope etc. Should be a great weekend..not to be missed.

Yep, free concert in the Serviceman's Club on the Sat eve - but I'm not alone Bobcat!
It's the full six-piece band - see 'em for free!!

Those that were there to see last year and need a prompt - we were the folk-rock outfit that played outside on the Saturday afternoon - on the back of a wagon in the street - a real 'gig' no less!
Indoors this time - not so chilly! Hah!

See ya! - hugs - Duncan

Ingleton YHA was a great place to stay .. we were there two years ago on a cycle tour of the UK. Hope YHA hasn't closed it since then though in its mass cull of hostels.

thanks for that kind offer Mr Happy but we were lucky enough to get the last room in Rock Cottage B&B. So are well placed on the edge of the common for a stomp up to the Hill Inn on Saturday (via Ingleborough if we've not overdone it the night before)

See you there maybe

- get y'r dancing shoes on - or sit and enjoy concert-style.
All welcome.

P.S Where is camping available near the village centre or is the nearest The Hill Inn or Ribblehead ?

At the Hill Inn if you contact the landlady on 0152 4241256 but it's 4 miles out of Ingleton. I hope this session on Friday evening means it's a singaround. On our way in an hour and it's pouring down here!!

Stacksteads Farm does camping

It used to be possible to rough camp at The Station at Ribblehead. The Hill Inn stopped allowing camping a while back but might have changed again

Ah.. found a useful page. Try Glebe Farm
Camping near Ingleton

See you somewhere there??

OK - second reversal!
I get told it's free to get in to the ex-serviceman's club to see us (DMcF Band) on Sat - then get told it's by ticket - now, checking the fest website, the indication is that all the 'clubs and pubs' events are FREE!
So.... as you were Dunc!...
It seems it's free to come see the band!
Yaaaay!
Come all ye!
Bring it on!
Hugs - Duncan

Great singing and playing session in The Wheatsheaf on Sat night and in The Old Hill Inn on Sunday.
Well done my mate Muppett for picking up the bronze medal award in the funniest song concert held at the Old Hill Inn Sunday afternoon.
Muppett has now collected the full set of medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) over the three years of this competition. That's got to be a record!
Well done Muppett. The challenge now is to come up with a new song to reclaim the gold award next year !
