Subject: Spooky Mens Chorale in the UK From: Liz the Squeak Date: 30 Aug 06 - 04:27 AM Last chance to see them is this Sunday in Shepherd's Bush, London. Details here... I heard them from afar (I was in my tent whilst they were on the stage 60ft away) and they sounded fantastic. Apparently there were a lot of hand gestures that I missed, so I'm hoping to get over and see them on Sunday. They said their tour was a 'secret' so consider me a whistle blower! LTS |

Subject: RE: Spooky Mens Chorale in the UK From: Mrs_Annie Date: 30 Aug 06 - 10:11 AM Yes weren't they. My hubby was going around singing their song all weekend. Didn't get the record though, not sure if it would work without the visuals. Anne |
Subject: RE: Spooky Mens Chorale in the UK From: GUEST,Paul Homer Date: 30 Aug 06 - 10:37 AM They did a superb concert at Broadstairs Folk Week and I was privileged to take part in their 'workshop' but they did not get the 'tools' out ;-) Sadly it was only a 2 hour session but was enough to get the hair standing up on the back of the neck! Would really like to get involved with a choir like them. Only opportunities around here (Dartford, Kent, UK) appear to be Barbershop and 'formal' choirs. [Someone at BFW suggested I should start a Mudcat thread to see if there is any interest in getting something like this going in this area. Will do this!] |
Subject: RE: Spooky Mens Chorale in the UK From: Liz the Squeak Date: 30 Aug 06 - 10:53 AM I'm looking forward to hearing them perform as I only got to a 2hr workshop.. however... it did release my Inner Bass and I've come back from Towersey without my usual sore throat from oversinging... so something worked! Subject: RE: Spooky Mens Chorale in the UK From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 23 Sep 06 - 08:48 AM They were brilliant at Broadstairs. One thing though - extraordinary as they were, I wouldn't have ever described them as "spooky", which I take as meaning ghostly or eerie. Does this word have some distinct Australian meaning? |
