Subject: Help wanted for using MIDITEXT
From: Harald Schmidt

I have a problem. The MIDITXT-Software isn't working at my computer. When I'd like to convert a file.txt into a file.mid it is corrupt and my midi-player or sequenzer cannot play this file.

I downloaded files.mid made with this program and I can convert it to files.txt - no problem, it's working. But when I try to convert it back to a midi-file it won't. When I use an editor (Notepad i. e.) for to look inside this corrupt midi-file it only shows me a header - but not more. Where is the rest?

This is the header I see:

MThd …MTrk

I think, I downloaded the lastest version of the software yesterday twice. I'm running Windows NT Server but I get the same result with MS-DOS 6.22.

What can I do? I would be greatful for help, thanks!

Harald

Hi Harald,

I had a problem trying to play a couple of the midi files, but when I looked at them in Noteworthy (music notation software) the problem was only that the tempo was really slow so that each note took a long time to be played and all I heard (didn't hear )was silence between the notes.

It wasn't a corrupt file - I just had to change the tempo on it in Noteworthy.

I'm sure Alan of Australia will jump into this thread to help you with your problem.

Helen

G'day,
I emailed Harald & hopefully he'll be able to email me the offending file(s).

If anyone else is having problems email me the file (MIDI and/or text) & I'll try to find the problem. I'm starting to try catching up on a backlog of these.

Cheers,
Alan
