Mrs. Gadaffi, myself and Amy Gadaffi are going to Newcastle on Friday to deposit latter prior to university. Does any Catter know where the best music can be experienced on either Friday or Saturday night? Nothing of note is on at The Sage either nights, nor on the professional circuit.

There is a carnival about African culture in Newcastle. It will include a parade in Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime. Events are on all week.

Dave Minikin, who Runs The Bridge Hotel in Newcastle, Also Runs The Blue Stone Club at Old Hartley, Just up the coast from Whitley Bay. Catch the 308 Bus from The Newcastle Haymarket Bus Station, ask for Deleval Arms, Seaton Sluice. (Thats the Pub where the club is!)

The new folk club is at the Chillingham Arms, Heaton and is on the 1st and third Friday of the month at the moment.
Starting at 8.30pm. £1 entry.

I'm sure that this will be a great success as it is being run by Rachel & Steve Crackett and friends. Rachel is a very experienced MC as being the youngest daughter of JIM and MU Wilkinson of Tranmire and the Mickleby Folk Club, she has served a long apprenticeship.

Rachel suggests that, at present, if people are travelling any distance they should ring and check as (because it is new)there is at least one future occassion when the room is pre-booked and will not be available to the folk club.

Good luck to Rachel and Steve at "The Chilli"

I used to go to the Folk Club there in the 70s when it was run
by Matty Ditchburn.
