We've had Holey Soles in Canada for a few years now - like Crocs but without the wimpy strap.

Ah... they're a cross between clogs and sandals and those nasty plastic shoes that were so popular in the 1950's & 60's.

They do come in some amazing colours and there were a lot of people wearing them at various festivals this summer.... See what you think... Personally, I'm not keen on them. As a lifelong leather sandal wearer, they're too enclosed and make my toes sweat.

Are they worn with socks?

No wonder LTS didn't like 'um... Reckon I wouldn't like 'um either if I wore 'um without socks...

But what I like the most is that they take the plantar fasietis pain away much better than the Berkenstocks... Okay, they ain't all that purdy but the Berks ain't either...

I have Crocs too....I opted for the flip-flop type...hot pink and green...WOOOO WEEEE...LOL! I didn't get the clog types but next year I definately will...they are THE most comfortable shoes on the planet! I'm with you Bobert....I wore them day in and day out! I'm into my slippers now while it's a tad chilly for the flip flops....oh, how I miss them!! My only wish is that they were a tad more fashionable so I could wear them while I'm on cement floors all day teaching!!!

Michelle,

Many local teachers wear Brikenstocks, especially on concrete floors.

I love my crocs. My sister, who is a teacher in Colorado, sent me a pair a couple of years ago, before they were available here in the east. She found out about them from friends who are nurses and doctors; apparently they were either designed by, or developed for, a surgeon, looking for comfotable, supportive footwear for the operating room. I wear mine year round, with and without socks; during our hottest months I have a "holey" pair. Beware, there are now many lookalikes on the market, made of different stuff and with a different foot bed--not at all comfortable to me. Of course, no shoe is right for everyone; I love the theory of Birkenstocks, but they do not work for my feet, and my husband finds crocs are not comfortable for him. Never buy shoes without trying them on; do try crocs.

I sit corrected. I just looked at the croc website, and learned that these shoes were first designed for boaters! A perfect example of urban folklore in the making.

They hit here this summer but of course we pay pounds for dollars here!! I have a pair of purple ones and they are incredibly comfortable and make my feet a lot less sweaty than leather due to the air flow design. Stopped a lot of my back and achilles problems too. Only problem is I can't drive in them. Would like to get another pair when I can afford to do so.

Crocs - I got a red pair - and spam from the company ever since.

Very comfortable for dancing.

I got a yellow pair at Sidmouth.

very easy on the feet. Tell you what - I turn the strap over once the heel is in - it tightens the hold even tough they wouldn't come off. The Orthaheels I insert (insoles with an instep) just make give them a little less er confidence is the word I am looking for.

two pairs of thin yellow socks for me. I do find a toe pokes out of one of the holes a bit but I dance in them. Miss Yellow dances in them too. Says a lot.

they are hideous but, from what I've heard, lovely. *shudder*

There were a lot of them at the festivals yes - but I was in New York in June and very surprised to see so many people wearing them there too!

Any US folk coming over could make a fortune carrying them in their luggage. As I said here they are £29 which is around $49!

They are made in Canada and are very cheap there, even cheaper than in America.

Made in Italy too - I thought there was a factory in the US.

There is definitely a difference in the molds - the detail and the words "crocs" may or may not be displayed depending on where made. Colours vary a bit too.
