Dear BrewerMom,
    PETER COTTONTAIL

    Here comes Peter Cottontail,
    Hoppin' down the bunny trail.
    Hippity-hoppin’, Easter's on its way.

    Bringin' every girl and boy
    Baskets full of Easter joy,
Things to make your Easter bright and gay.

He's got jelly beans for Tommy,
    Colored eggs for sister Sue.
There's an orchid for your mommy
    And an Easter bonnet, too.

    Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
    Hoppin' down the bunny trail.
    Hippity hoppity, happy Easter day.

    INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

    Here comes Peter Cottontail,
    Hoppin' down the bunny trail.
Hippity, hoppin’, Easter's on its way.

Try to do the things you should.
    Maybe if you're extra good,
He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way.

You'll wake up on Easter mornin’
And you'll know that he was there,
When you find those choc'late bunnies
    That he's hiding ev'rywhere.

    Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
    Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
    Hippity hoppity, happy Easter day.
    Hippity hoppity, happy Easter day.
That's all I know. Hope someone else can help further.
Songwriter Information: Peter Cottontail (words & music by Steve Nelson & Walter E. Rollins, 1949)
    -Joe Offer-

As recorded by Gene Autry on Columbia (38750), 1950.

My mom came up with the last line:

You'll wake up on Easter morning and know that he was there when you find the chocolate bunnies that he's hidden everywhere

SteveF. - Thanks for the link to Peter Cottontail. From my VERY limited viewing of this forum, it is evident that many of you 'regulars' have much knowledge to share with those of us who are just in the beginning stages of the computer age. (Though I have to say that at times your replies are quite gruff.) Thanks for leading us in the right direction anyway.

I'm sorry if I offended you with the "Nausea" crack Catherine...Too many years of wanting to be Groucho Marx. We're running a thread right now on lightening up a little on newbies and visitors. Hang around, you'll find this to be a very unique place on the web. You might want to spend a little time learning how to use the database and exploring old threads in this forum and I think you'll see what I mean. Welcome to Mudcat.

Catherine -

Always remember - This is all in fun! Even what seems as vile, nasty stuff is really tongue-in-cheek, intended to give someone, somewhere, a chuckle. Above all, never, ever, take things personal. Welcome to Mudcat.

Is that the one that goes,
"here comes Peter Cottontail,
hopping down the bunny trail,
hippity hoppity, Easter's on its way..."

I can't remember the rest.
