Cool Muzak?

Just phoned up my heating-oil supplier, got put on hold, and to my astonishment, the "muzak" playing was a Bessie Smith recording I'd never heard before. Now how cool is that? as the kids say.

The phone service (I'm in Nova Scotia) plays local pub bands doing their rocked-up Irish Rovers thing - not everyone's cup of tea, but at least a change from The Golden Strings Do the Stones or whatever.

There may be hope yet. Anyone else heard unusual muzak in unlikely places?
