Subject: Carl Sandburg: NPR 10-26-06 From: Desert Dancer Date: 25 Oct 06 - 09:08 PM I'm writing this partly as a reminder to myself: tomorrow morning on Morning Edition there will be a segment on Carl Sandburg. The blurb on it this evening from Susan Stamberg I believe had audio of Sandburg singing (I was in the car and distracted -- it may have been him reading poetry). Should be available online tomorrow via the Morning Edition site. While I'm at it, this site has an illustrated discography for Sandburg. "Great Carl Sandburg: Songs Of America" is currently available on CD. ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: Carl Sandburg: NPR 10-26-06 From: Canberra Chris Date: 26 Oct 06 - 08:30 AM Checked your discography link, I have had 'Josh White and Carl Sandberg', one side of each, since shortly after its release in 1965, and have played it to death. Both beautiful, and Carl does sing, in an unusual style but with great passion and expression. Chris |
Subject: RE: Carl Sandburg: NPR 10-26-06 From: Desert Dancer Date: 26 Oct 06 - 11:32 AM I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but from the web notes it looks like the segment was on his poetry; not too unexpected. Here's the direct link to the story: "Gathering Poems from Sandburg's 'Great Period.'" However, on the topic of "crossover" (lively on another thread lately), there was a link to a previous segment from 2004, of guitarist Dan Zanes getting excited about "American Songbag." Here 'tis. ~ Becky in Tucson |
