The International Songwriting Competition has extended its submission deadline, so if you haven't already entered, you still have a chance. If you've already entered and want to submit additional songs, you still have the opportunity to do so. This is the FINAL deadline. There will be no further extension. All entries must be posted on or before November 17, 2006. ISC will continue to take online entries, as well as entries through the mail; the online submission platform will be open until 11:59 p.m. EST, November 17.

ISC gives away over $150,000 in cash and prizes to 56 winners. The Overall Grand Prize includes $25,000 (US) in cash - the largest cash Grand Prize of any songwriting competition in the world - and $20,000 in prizes. ISC is open to all levels of amateur and professional songwriters throughout the world.

ISC has the most prestigious panel of judges in any songwriting competition, offering a rare opportunity for songwriters and artists throughout the world to have their songs heard by judges which include the top executives of 14 record labels and legendary recording artists such as Tom Waits, Brian Wilson (Beach Boys), Robert Smith (the Cure), Jerry Lee Lewis, John Scofield, John Mayall, and Rosanne Cash, just to name a few. Scroll down for a complete list of 2006 ISC judges.

Judges Spotlight

Amy Ray (Indigo Girls)

Since the release of her first basement recording, Tuesday's Children, in 1981, Amy Ray has set the bar for musicians who use their music to voice their social views. Over the years, her brand of folk-rock music has earned her a loyal fan base, millions of record sales, and numerous awards, but more importantly, Ray has been able to use music to express herself creatively, poetically, politically, and spiritually. A devoted environmental and social justice activist and lifelong music industry maverick, Amy also founded the not-for-profit Daemon Records, with a mission of supporting local artists in the Atlanta music community, teaching young artists how to further their careers, and keeping the independent spirit alive. The Indigo Girls recently released Despite Our Differences, their 10th studio album and their first since signing a new record deal with Hollywood Records earlier this year.

Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse)

After more than a decade with Modest Mouse, which includes four albums and several EPs, Isaac Brock has earned his way into indie rock songwriter stardom. Although he is known as a lead singer, guitarist, keyboardist, and sometimes banjo player for Modest Mouse, and as the frontman for his side project, Ugly Cassanova, it is Brock's lyrics that are most noted by critics and fans alike. Allmusic.com accurately calls him "a past master of lyrics that are both abstract and precise." During a dramatic upbringing in the Northwest, Brock started playing music with Eric Judy and Jeremiah Green, and the core band of Modest Mouse was formed. After a stint as an A&R man for Sub Pop, Brock started his own label called Glacial Pace in 2005. Modest Mouse has enjoyed significant success since signing with Epic Records, most recently with their hit album Good News For People Who Love Bad News. Starting in November, they will be touring in select venues to promote the highly anticipated upcoming album, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, due for release in early 2007 with a full world tour to follow.
Monte Lipman

Prior to becoming the President of Universal Records, Monte Lipman served as National Director of Promotion at Atlantic Records where he worked with artists including Hootie & The Blowfish and Collective Soul. Formerly, Lipman served as EMI Records West Coast Regional Promotion Director, working with such platinum artists as Jon Secada and Arrested Development. In 1995, while Senior Vice President of Universal, Lipman and his brother founded Republic Records, which would become home to top charting artists such as Godsmack and the Bloodhound Gang. Just five years later, Lipman was promoted to President of Universal, where he has helped steer the careers of popular music superstars like Nelly, Prince, Elton John, 3 Doors Down, Jamie Cullum, Jack Johnson, and many others. In a time where record labels are rumored to be in the middle of a downhill battle with electronic media, Universal has proven to be as strong as ever by embracing the electronic music trend - in the past two years alone, Universal has launched Universal Music Media, International Music Feed, Universal Music Mobile US, and broken the Soundscan record for highest weekly current market share.
