Subject: 11:11 Music from Galaxie (Digita Music) From: Clinton Hammond Date: 31 Oct 06 - 04:47 PM So I just got this in my email, from the company that provides some of the digital music channels I get with my cable TV package. "Dear eClub member, On November 11, 2006, in honour of Remembrance Day, Galaxie FolkRoots will intersperse, with regular programming over the course of the day, songs dealing with the subject of War: from ancient Gaelic battles to 60s protest anthems, from odes of remembrance and tribute to the fallen to contemporary reflection on Middle East criticism conflicts. Lest we forget!" Now, I know I'm not the most sensitive hair on the dog, but am I alone in this? 60's Protest Anthems?!?!?! On Remembrance Day?!?!?! Am I the only one who thinks this is in incredibly bad taste??? |

Subject: RE: 11:11 Music from Galaxie (Digita Music) From: Amos Date: 01 Nov 06 - 06:29 PM I guess. There is a strange dynamic between those sent to wage war, and those who would fight to eliminate it. Most soldiers would be glad NOT to face live fire because in spite of the adrenalin it is scary as all hell, plus you can incur mortal damage. It does not dishonor soldiers doing their duty to say taht war should not happen, and they should not be sacrificed. To the contrary, it seeks to find a better path for their energies, and a longer and more fulfilling path for them. 'COurse some folks are just all fightin' mad all the time and will not brook such meddling when they really want to go forth and kill, but I think they are the minority. A |
