I'm very sorry not to be there to see dear John. Distance makes it impossible. My wishes for a good gig are sent in this message.
Try not to miss him. He is always worth a listen
( and he will be paying me nothing to say that!)

That night will also be a celebration of the great Bill Gardners 80th birthday so should be a great night!

We're very sorry about this but it clashes with Faversham who have the great Jez Lowe and his Bad Pennies. Have a very good night, and happy birthday Bill.

No, this is not the same John writing here as the John being referred to in this thread. This is the the other one from Ireland, but living and gigging in Germany.

If it`s the same John, I remember he e-mailed me some years ago and suggested that as both of us were bards with the exact same name, we should get together sometime for a gig.

That could be good fun!

John Barden

The man with the golden tonsils.

Well, they should be, the amount of the golden liquid he puts on them....

I don't know how the thread title ended up with 19th Nov - I didn't put it there. it should have been 22nd!!!

I hope this did not cause people to miss John.

I'm disappointed that I missed John yet again. I've been in oodles of sessions/singarounds with him but have never manage to get to any of his performances as featured guest. That comes from having more to do than time in which to do it.

I read on another thread that it went very well and that John had a good time.

I'll make it one day, John. Meanwhile (not "meantime" as the prats on the beeb increasingly use!) I raise a glass to a folk stalwart of Kent (and elsewhere), an excellent performer and a good bloke.

Never mind Kevin, there is a Midwinter Folk Ale day, at the Good Intent, on Sunday 21st Jan at 12.00, not as in the ' Kent Folk ' 2.00.
Dal has had 8 real ales, racked up at quite conciderable cost, only to be told by the dray men, who delivered when he wasn't there and when Karen asked them to help her lift them on the top shelf replied, 'what tit did that '. Well done Dal, I like it

Blimey - how did I miss this one.

Nice to hear from my namesake in Germany. Visit his website as he's a far better looking bloke than me (and much thinner too).

As for that Juan Phatt-B'Stard, rumour has it that he'll be giving those reindeers some stick come Christmas!!

I had a great time at the Folk Mob on Wednesday and I'd like to thank them for the warm welcome they gave. It's really good to see a folk club with a strong following. My thanks to all the people who came up to join in on the last three numbers - made my night that did.
John Barden

The session on the 21st sounds interesting. I'll be there at some stage but I'm not sure when. Jumbo Gumbo have got a gig the same day at the Carpenter's Arms, just up the road.

I'm not sure what time we'll be starting but I suspect it'll be late afternoon. So if you fancy listening to some zydeco after you've been singing your hearts out all afternoon, come and see us.

I've started another thread because the old one has the wrong date in the title. Anyway wasn't it a good night last Wednesday. John was on great form, as usual. There were also some cracking floorspots, my favourite was Tony (with the martin guitar. Thanks to John for taking over the hosting for the whole night, giving the great DK more time to drink and play. There photographs of the night here just click the one on the top left and you will get a slide show that you can browse through.

Thanks John.

I have corrected the original thread date and transferred this message to it. No need to have two threads. Mudelf
