Next week, after over 25 years service, Geoff and Liz, our hosts at the White Lion, are kicking it in touch and handing over the reigns to new management. We believe we are still OK to run the club there on a Monday but as part of the handover the pub will be closed for a couple of weeks for refurbishment. I believe the affected nights are the 4th and 11th of December, with us being back for our Christmas party on the 18th. Not sure what we will be doing for those nights. I will try to keep you posted as to whether we will have a break or run the club elsewhere.

Cheers

DtG

I hope it is only temporary, still you could always move to the Lancastrian Hall. OOPs! sorry forgot Salford Corpy closed it as it was of no use to the community

OK - Managed to get an update straight from the horses mouth. Our new hosts are Martin and Sue. Ged spoke to Martin last week and he said he wanted to keep things exactly as they were. He has had folk events on in his previous places so that bodes well - keep your fingers crossed:-) The closure is not for as long as we thought. Some redecorating, re-upholstry and new carpets. The pub will be closed from around the 1st to the 8th of December meaning we will only miss 1 night. Eddie McGurk is due on the 4th December so we will either run the night elsewhere or postpone Eddie for a short while. Looks more likely to be the former as there are a number of venues in the frame. Eddie is happy with either.

Thanks for your attention and, again, keep you posted as the news arrives.

Josher - You coming for the Christmas party again? Hope you have your visa ready...

Cheers

Right - up to the minute news. It was the later after all. Eddie has graciously agreed to move to a slot in March. Seeing as he is on with Bandersnatch in Swinton next Monday anyway I'm sure that he will forgive us:-)

Don't forget Geoff and Liz's unofficial leaving do - Informal session and singaround in the folk club room. Tuesday 28th November. From 8:30pm.

Cheers

Hi Dave
Hoping to come to the party but visas or alternativley finding a human trafficker who is willing to get us over the border for two Bury black puddings and a collar stud are proving a bit difficult.

We can always smuggle you in through the salt mine tunnels. Did you know they linked up to the Wheatsheaf colliery? You only have to swim the bit under the Manchester ship canal...

Swim, now there's the rub. I've only ever been swimming at Southport when the tide was out.
