Subject: Nonsense at the Eel's Foot From: Rusty Dobro Date: 24 Nov 06 - 06:49 AM The 'Eel's Foot' pub at Eastbridge is hosting an evening of parodies, music hall songs, low humour, ragtime, a song about bicycles, and attacks on perfectly innocent politicians. It is unlikely that vulgarity will be avoided. The 'fox hat' joke will make an appearance at some stage. All this on Saturday evening, 2 December. To find the 'Eel's Foot', take a map of Suffolk and drive off the edge. |

Subject: RE: Nonsense at the Eel's Foot From: Andy Jackson Date: 24 Nov 06 - 08:21 AM Well, Eyelander and I had the most marvelous fun evening at The Eel's Foot a few weeks ago. It was advertised as a "Squit" evening so we expected fun. What was unexpected was the warmth of the greeting and instant involvment. All credit to Doc and the regulars they have something special there. A pub evening in the old style, a mix of Folk and Fun, brilliant. Andy |
Subject: RE: Nonsense at the Eel's Foot From: Rusty Dobro Date: 24 Nov 06 - 11:42 AM Fun expected indeed: the poster says 'On the pianoforte, Jon (without an h), guitar Pete White (without an equal), other guitar Doc Cox (without a clue) and on the tea-chest bass Jilly B, Westleton's Rosebud of Rhythm. Skiffle and Blues, Hokum and Folk, Saxmundham (regulars will know) and Old-Time Country.' And of course it's an Adnams house. |

Subject: RE: Nonsense at the Eel's Foot From: Rusty Dobro Date: 25 Nov 06 - 05:12 AM Yes, but not until after the gig, if you don't mind, as I only have one joke. Expect a further post on 3 December, (but don't raise your hopes too much!). |
Subject: RE: Nonsense at the Eel's Foot From: Rusty Dobro Date: 03 Dec 06 - 01:00 PM Ah yes, the 'fox hat' joke. Props needed: 1. Audience (and performer) with juvenile sense of humour, 2. A gig somewhere off the beaten track, 3. A hat either clearly made from, or depicting, a fox. I found a nice cartoony picture on Google Images, and stapled it to an old straw hat. Ready? Don the hat, at the same time remarking, 'When I told my friends I was going to play at (wherever), they said, 'Wear the fox hat!' (Cue helpless laughter, free beer, groupies, etc). Perhaps you'd have to be there.... I'll get me coat. Oh, and it was a great evening. Doc at his best. |
