Subject: RE: Country Joe McDonald's birthday (1 Jan 1942) From: Mick Tems Date: 02 Jan 07 - 06:13 PM I saw Country Joe at Swansea University years and years ago. After a few songs, he suddenly walked off. Concern spread through his audience like wildfire. What had happened to Country Joe? Was he angry with the crowd? About a minute later, Joe walked back on. Seems like he had taken it into his head to go for a piss. The album that he did with the Fish (Hi, Barry!) I'm Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die, is a landmark. Happy birthday, Joe. |

Subject: RE: Country Joe McDonald's birthday (1 Jan 1942) From: Elmer Fudd Date: 03 Jan 07 - 12:55 AM Joe has been a tireless advocate for Vietnam vets, working to get them services, care and recognition. He has taken a lot of flack from people who feel his work is tantamount to supporting the Vietnam war, while he maintains that the vets were also victims of the war. Joe is also a great fan of nurses (his brother is one), and an expert on Florence Nightingale. He maintains a website about Florence Nightingale, and has been working with Jane Fonda to produce a film about her life. He has written a number of songs about nurses.
