Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Acadien expulsion 'mon acadi'? Bois Joli From: GUEST,Psychomorris Date: 12 Jan 07 - 11:46 AM Dear Katlaughing I am not sure if you will find what you are looking for at this site. However it is worth a look WWW.TERRIAU.org or put in Famille acadienne TERRIOT Acadian Family Sorry this is all the information I have regarding this site which has a good amount of arcadian music and possible opportunity to find more. As an English person I hang my head in shame at my ancestors yet maybe this music would not exist if not for the travels of these peoples. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Acadien expulsion 'mon acadi'? Bois J From: GUEST Date: 12 Jan 07 - 09:13 PM Don't rend your garments, Psychomorris. The expulsion was tragic, but it was done by an ambitious governor in contravention of government policy and he was replaced because of it. Some of those expelled made their ways back home and were restored to their farms. You're also right that our Anglo-American folk culture is much the richer for it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Acadien expulsion 'mon acadi'? Bois J From: katlaughing Date: 12 Jan 07 - 10:51 PM Thank you, Psychomorris, but it was actually Leslie Lamont who was looking. I just started this thread and moved their message into it, for them. Still, I do have an interest and will enjoy looking at the site you listed. Thanks, again, kat |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Acadien expulsion 'mon acadi'? Bois J From: katlaughing Date: 12 Jan 07 - 10:58 PM WOW-O-WOW!! Thank you, Psychomorris. Just had a chance to look over a few pages on that website. Outstanding and SO much! My Rog, whose family came to Canada with Cartier, really is enjoying it. I love the way they have it laid out, esp. with the music on each page. I noticed they had at least one tune from Barry Taylor's Great Canadian Tunebook. Thanks, again, so much, kat |
Subject: Lyr Add: MON ACADIE (Richard Doiron) From: Jim Dixon Date: 14 Jan 07 - 01:30 PM Lyrics copied from [an official?] Richard Doiron web site. (The words couldn't be copy-pasted; any typos are probably mine.) Mon Acadie, t'es mon pays, t'es mon histoire. |

Bois J From: GUEST Date: 12 Jan 07 - 09:13 PM Don't rend your garments, Psychomorris. I can't believe some people's ignorance and nonchalance. "Some of those expelled made their ways back home and were restored to their farms"... Please! What portion of those expelled were actually restored their farms? ah-ah... And really, how many actually made it back? What about the families that were separated? The hundreds that died at sea? Those who had to hide in the woods and died of cold or hunger? Those who had nothing left, and had to start all over again? Your post really minimizes what happened... Read a little more about it, with an open mind, and see what you'll think... See how acadians are now struggling to have their culture recognized and passed on from generation to generation... Trying to pierce out of the silence they have been reduced to for many years... See if it was "nothing" to "rend your garments" about? It's just frustrating to see ignorant comments like that. There's a slim chance you'll be back and read this, after so long... but I had to let my indignation out. |
