Subject: Lyr Add: BROTHER WARRIOR (Kate Wolf) From: open mike Date: 12 Jan 07 - 05:23 PM This song is on her Poet's Heart "album" It is possible that during this time some of the songs she wrote were about Eric Bogle. Brother Warrior was written/published in 1984. Kate was a guest on Prairie Home Companion in 1984 and 1985 and Austin City Limits in 1985. In 1986 she was diagnosed with leukemia in April, and passed away in December, 1986. Brother Warrior Gentle warrior, with your heart like gold and a rainbow in your eyes Brave Companion, do you see a world shining in the sky? With our body dancing like an arrow spreading joy beneath your feet And your hands that wave like tall grass in the wind as you speak with the shyness of a small child and the wisdom of a sage I tell you now there is no reason to be afraid Brother warrior, there are none of us who walk this path alone Spirit healer, it's the only life that we have ever known I see your smile in the sunlight I hear your songs in the rain Hold you here inside me feel your love an dknow your pain At this time when the earth is waking to the dawn of another age I tell you now, there is no reason to be afraid We are crying for a vision that all living things can share And Those Who Care are with us everywhere |
Subject: RE: Origins: Brother Warrior by Kate Wolf From: Bill Hahn//\\ Date: 12 Jan 07 - 07:14 PM It may or not be a metaphor for Eric Bogle (brother warrior, etc;) but it is, like all her material, a gem. I had best stop now because I could go on for pages about KW. Bill Hahn |
