Yes Kitty, there is a sort of Purse Caundle w/end, though now in the next village of Stourton Caundle. Still the same organiser and format.

Mudcat 2007 Alternative British Folk Awards - Results!

The votes have now been counted and the winners are as follows.  Congratulations to all those who took part!

1. PUB/CLUB FOLK SINGER OF THE YEAR won this year by Jim McAdams (Jock o' the North), with Hilary Ward as a close runner-up.

2. PUB/CLUB MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR goes to Patti Smith (who also beat herself into second place).

3. BEST "NON COMMERCIAL" GROUP/DUO awarded to Patti Smith & Ned Clamp.

4. BEST "NON COMMERCIAL" CD , won this year by Hilary Ward for her CD (which I still don't know the title of).

5. HORIZONTAL AWARD (Best drinker) to Ian Woods & Graham Metcalfe for their duet drinking performances.

6. BEST FOLK CLUB goes to Llantrisant.

7. BEST PUB SESSION (Regular) awarded to The Good Intent, Rochester.

8. BEST PUB SESSION (Festival) goes to Nelly Dean's bar at Miskin.

9. BEST FOLK FESTIVAL this year, also goes to Miskin.

10. BEST "SONG AND ALE"  Fox and Hounds

11. BEST FOLK DRAMA to Mummers at Miskin 2006, with Cornwall Songwriters "Unsung Heroes, The Lost Gardeners of Heligan" coming a close second.

12. BEST REGULAR DANCE EVENT, this year to Herbaceous Border by a country mile.

13. BEST LOCAL FOLK MAGAZINE goes to Folk on Tap.

S0. The "Two In A Bar Award" for the best nonexistent Session/Singaround goes by a walkover to the UK Parliament folk arts group.

S1. The Seth Lakeman Award for The Best Recently Composed Traditional Song to "The Last Fisherman" by Jon Heslop

S2. Imaginative Interpretation ("eccentricity") award is shared by Blokes in Frocks and Alhambra

S3. The Special Award for determination, again by a walkover, to the Singers and Musicians at the Wellie in Boscastle.
