Subject: Recording King Banjos From: Greg B Date: 29 Jan 07 - 12:09 PM Been keeping an eye peeled for a banjo, and saw the Recording King ne Plus Ultra at the Mandolin Bros. site. Any opinions on such things here? Actual experiences? I grew up playing my dad's (non-Mastertone) Gibson, so that's what I'm used to and like, probably even more than Vegas. |

Subject: RE: Recording King Banjos From: Greg B Date: 29 Jan 07 - 01:31 PM Thanks... saw that review. I'm hoping to have a few more qualitative opinions from this forum, as that reviewer didn't quite say how well it plays, though if he's playing what he says he is for his other instrument, he's got to know what's good. |
Subject: RE: Recording King Banjos From: Songster Bob Date: 29 Jan 07 - 01:58 PM Too bad it's not a "real" Recording King, a vintage brand used by (I think) Stromberg Voisonet (sp?) which later became Kay. Well, whoever made 'em, they were good 'uns. Though they didn't make many 5-strings, just tenors (it being the era of the tenor banjo, the 20s). Of the modern ones, I know nothing. Bob |
