Subject: comhaltas fireside sessions From: The Sandman Date: 19 Feb 07 - 05:37 AM last night I was playing at a comhaltas fireside session. The session started at 6 and finished at nine. The session was held in a local pub,and the ages of the musicians ranged from 6 to 60. the guest was Connie o Connell,other adult musicians included TomSullivan ,MaryTisdall,Cathy Cook,Dick Miles,Johnny Coakley,a great time was had. in my opinion these sessions are a really progressive step by comhaltas,giving children a chance to play in non competitive envoironments,and learn and hear different styles. all those people who slag comhaltas off[are you there JC]SHOULD like me congratulate comhaltas on these sessions. I hope other organisationds like the welsh song/dance society and efdss and scottish societies take up this idea.http://www.dickmiles.com |
