Subject: Vega Little Wonder From: Greg B Date: 19 Feb 07 - 11:18 PM Anybody here playing a Vega Little Wonder banjo? Went to Mandolin Bros. on Saturday. Played everything in the banjo room, including $4000.00 instruments, Bart Reiter banjos, and so on. Kept coming back to the funny little simple thing with no tone-ring. Warm. Sweet. Playable. Played 5-string since I was seven. Had hands on everything from the Gibson I learnt on to Whyte Laydies and beyond. But this little banjo seems awfully nice... |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: Anglo Date: 20 Feb 07 - 02:19 AM I used to have one. Was stupid enough to trade it. A lovely little tenor. If the one you see is indeed a tenor, and it's lying around - or you are not buying - I know someone who'd probably really like it, so do let me know. |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: Dave Hanson Date: 20 Feb 07 - 04:49 AM There is Vega Little Wonder going for £250.00 on eBay UK fantastic price, if I didn't already own a Whyte Laydie I would have gone for it. eric |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: bill\sables Date: 20 Feb 07 - 05:41 AM I have two Little Wonders, both tenors, one is the regular 1923 17fret 11 inch pot, but the other is a 1921 17 fret 12 inch pot which can hold its own among loud accordions |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: The Sandman Date: 20 Feb 07 - 02:17 PM I have a vega little wonder tenor and also a vega n,they are brilliant to play, and are loud enough without a resonator. I persuaded a pupilof mine [who had a crap banjo] to get one,in a week he,s playing has improved more ,than it did in the previous six months, he now wants to play. |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: Greg B Date: 20 Feb 07 - 06:20 PM I'm looking at a 5-string. Yeah, what struck me was its tone (warm without being muddy) and astonishing playability. Thanks for telling me I wasn't hallucinating (this time). |
Subject: RE: Vega Little Wonder From: Margo Date: 20 Feb 07 - 09:12 PM Yes, I have a vega little wonder too and I keep coming back to it. My other banjo has a tubaphone tone ring and a "pie plate" resonator which I removed to play open back. I like the little wonder. It is as you say warm and sweet. margo |
